2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

He should go for his own sake. He (and his wife) have fallen out of love with Everton, and I don't really blame them for that. On the other hand, watching him and Beto up front on Sunday, there's only one of them who should have a future here and that's Beto.

He's a great player but, like many before him, he hasn't reached his full potential for various reasons. There's no point in him staying here to get more abuse and to look increasingly less of a player. I thought the same with Iwobi - just go mate, you'll be happier elsewhere.

He should leave with our blessing as fans, and with best wishes for him to thrive elsewhere.

‘Great player’? That’s extremely generous to say the least.

No.

He will improve even more next season.
I think so. Just needs to sharpen up his finishing and timing but he probably is one of those strikers most central defenders hate playing against. Does his fair bit in defence but runs the channels well and keeps the other teams defenders on the back foot which ensures they don't drift forward in support of their attack placing us under more and more pressure, something we've been guilty of for far too long. He's an outlet and we just need to ensure we have other players in and around him when he does get the ball upfield to create chances. In fairness to DCL he can/does play a similar way but lack of attacking support didn't help him.

Sorry, this was really meant for the Beto thread 🫣....,or was it? Jeesh, I'm confused!

Messi and Ronaldo are great players.

I would definitely keep Beto ahead of him.

If he can't agree massively reduced terms, then he's gone.
I agree. I’ve been a big advocate/defender of him but Beto is providing goals and while there’s more to the game than that, you can’t turn your nose up at goals.

Only reason he would be staying is if they have a very good offer in for Beto and financially keeping DCL as 2nd choice is significantly cheaper than the money we would spend purchasing and paying for a 2nd choice whilst also signing a new starting striker.

….if he’s not staying then I imagine he’s agreed terms elsewhere sometime ago.

Edit; @Marius57 this is conjecture, not fact :bye:
I agree, I would imagine he has agreed elsewhere.

Don’t need to caveat it as conjecture when you already point out it’s what you “imagine” or what you “assume” etc.

I like Dom more than most on here but his time seems to be coming to an end.

Beto has shown enough under Moyes to allow him to fight for the spot next year with hopefully a new striker of Moyes choosing.

That’s the key thing for me. Of course we are all speculating but I get that vibe too. If he went now I think it would be the right decision for all involved.

That said, don’t agree with him getting stick and especially not his wife if that’s apparently happening. He’s a good lad and a hard worker. Scored some great and important goals for us and his career might have been something greater if not for injuries. But that’s football.

I’m with you on that. Always liked him. A lot (defo not all) of how unproductive he has been is just bad luck.

Comparing him with Beto just shows the difference between ability and effectiveness. We need effectiveness.

Just one example. Some pretty grim Andrew Tate inspired stuff posted. All the usual misogynistic tropes. Honestly feels like we’re going backwards sometimes.

Hopefully gets forward to the police and dealt with. Sadly there is a surge of misogyny amongst young males in this country and just being a blue doesn’t make you immune from being vermin.
