New Everton Stadium

Roma and Celtic are the rumours.

Have heard from multiple Celtic fans that its booked for a Coleman testimonial. However, no one at Everton will budge and confirm.

I get the ROI element of Celtic but seems tenuous as I’ve never heard Seamus mention Celtic once. Surely it would be vs Sligo?

Though I might be overestimating
the player’s influence on a testimonial’s opponent.

Celtic were in the offing to sign him when we did, and as you say, big Irish influence. They'd sell out too, which helps

Well, to be fair to the rumour-mongers, I've never been convinced that the internals of the stadium that we have seen are anywhere near finished. I still can't get over the idea that the "ceilings" are to remain as exposed as they are and the concrete is to remain as stark.

It just doesn't scream 800m stadium to me. And I doubt these Yanks would want it to look cheaper than it cost...

There is almost zero chance that the ceilings will be anything other than exposed in the GA concourses.

Don’t think you’d need the lounges for friendlies, and there is still a third test event to be played, whether they use that as the traditional home pre season friendly I don’t know, but it would seem a little late given the PL would start a week later.

the club have said there’ll be a test event in July

IIRC, Donegal is one of those places in Ireland where United and that lot don't dominate. Celtic has always been the major attraction. I'd imagine Coleman has been Celtic daft growing up.

not sure celtic would be a good idea for a new stadium

There was absolute hell on when they came to our place a few years ago. Now admittedly we have a far-right/ Rangers supporting contingent in our fanbase which you lot thankfully don't - however they were absolutely up for trouble that day, and there was fighting all over the city.

In the stadium is was an unreal atmosphere, and they sold 10k or whatever it was that we gave them!

Every single time I've seen Scottish teams come down to England for pre-season they always sell massively numbers and really treat it as a day out!

Exactly this. They look on it as Scotland v. England .
