New Everton Stadium

Daft comments like that do your argument no good.

I'm stating what the vast majority think: if there was a polll right now to get shut of that name it'd be a landslide to get shut of it. Go and have a look at the poll on this forum already. Maybe all of us need 'professional help' and it's just you and a handful others who are sane?
You once again show yourself up as a clown who never goes outside Dave. Social media isn't real life. People act thr fool on here and go way hyperbolic in a way they never would in a normal conversation. In the real world nobody cares about the name. At most it would've got a "I wish it had got a cooler name" along with a shrug of the shoulders. On here, its the same collection of the loud minority screaming likw it was the end of the world and talking about PR disasters. Its an embarrassment.

Nope.

Let'snot start blaming each other for a terrible decision.

The club has left the fans in a position of ridicule. That's what they've done.
Who'd you want us to be sponsored by Dave? This isn't a gotcha question, who is a genuine company with good morals that you'd be happy with financially supporting and naming the club? I know it's easy to say "it's not my job to find someone it's the owners" but hypothetically what name would have been fine across the stands?

It will be defined by what happens in it, not what’s written on the outside of it.

A Merseyside based company whose primary field is maritime and shipping, the thing that more or less built the city, is giving Everton millions. That's a bad thing?

If it was a Japanese car company, some people would link that to World War II atrocities. If you look hard enough there's probably some dodgy dealings in most companies.

Some people really need to look at themselves.

Forgive me for playing the ref here, but there's no need to pile on Dave for having his opinion or questioning his mental health.

Moan for moaning's sake?

Have you taken a look at that stadium name and association we've been handed for a decade?

I know there's some sort of virtue in gritting teeth and bearing a heavy load, but this is not that. This stadium name is a piss take and it's left every Evertonian embarrassed by it and feeling like we've snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

All they had to do was to choose the appropriate commercial partner, but they've gone for a quick sale to a no mark, local company with a ridiculous name.
I don`t think too many will be feeling that way. Naming rights was a way to get some extra cash in the bank and an extra bit of revenue that we never had at Goodison.

Cant understand why our fans reckon on the name.
Name is just a name. You can call what you want.
There is someone who believe and support us to be great again.
Even more, Hill Dickinson is a local firm which is more historical than us and positive brand.
We should give our welcome rather than hate the name and feel embrassed.
Spot on mate. we need to embrace this and support it 💙

You're trying too hard here mate.

It's a PR disaster. It's a humiliation for fans.

That stadium has just had the shine taken off it big time.
We’re well-versed in humiliation. After 35 years of having our heads patted by Kenwright’s sweet seductive sepia-toned lies, what’s another “humiliation.”

Amazing how so much mismanagement was tolerated here for over quarter of a century, yet a deal that brings in bucks is the straw to break the camel’s back.

Except it won’t be.

There is no contradiction there. My argument over BMD was that it would be bypassed and called by a company name. That's correct.

And Ild have gone along with that if it were anywhere near being acceptable, but it isn't.

It's a humiliation. And I wont have any part of that.
Another everton ground boycotted by a cantankerous wum .
How will they ever cope

Educated assumption but even if I’m wrong, I don’t see a non-top 100 law firm giving 20% of their profit to sponsor Everton football club in one of the most lucrative stadium sponsorships in Europe

Btw there’s 1000s of companies with 50mm in profit. Obviously it’s impressive and I would love to own one! But from a business perspective, it’s not exactly printing cash compared to the plenty of others who could sponsor us
I`m pretty sure the £50m is pre tax profits, the government will want 25% of that in Corporation tax.... Net profit will probably end up somewhere in the £20 millions and then they are gonna give 30%, 40% or 50% of Nett profits to Everton?

Like I say, when the details come out it will be nearer £3m-£4m per year... doesn`t even cover Doucoures wages next season!

They are a great old firm started here but known nationally (even internationally if you do shipping law). Synonymous with Liverpool and its port. Been through some tough times but massively turned the corner. Sound familiar?
Hill Dicks ate actually a very fitting sponsor for us, I just don’t think a minimum of £35M over 5 years is enough.
Anyway, as an owner of one of their much smaller rivals, I still like them. That says a lot.

On the positives, they are a high end professional services firm.

We were looking to move away from betting companies and the like and moving to something a bit more prestigious.

Whilst not necessarily massive globally, they are a law firm that predominantly acts for businesses or high net individuals. You wouldn’t be instructing them unless you were pretty well off. So they are far from ambulance chasers. Probably the most prestigious Liverpool law firm. If you managed to get a training contract at Hill Dickinsons, you’ve done very well.

I’m just surprised they have the money for it. Aon, another professional services firm sponsored Man Utd a few years back, but they have revenues of $15.7 billion.

There is massive money in professional services. Look at WTW, PWC, Deloitte, Ernst. & Young, Kirkland & Ellis. All make billions.

So it’s a bit surprising Hill Dickinson (who I say are very well respected and prestigious) have the revenues to sponsor a premier league football stadium. Especially a new stadium in a new location, with no links to its past (as opposed to spurs), which arguably makes it more of a catch for them.

It’s an LLP. Doesn’t pay Corporation Tax. Tax transparent. The deal is a base of £35M over 7 years. More if we do well.
