New Everton Stadium

Well happy with that deal…👌

Happy to wager a round of pints to anyone on this forum who actually believe we’re getting close to 10mm pounds a year from Hill Dickinson. I’ll collect my free drinks after the official accounts are released in a year or two

Their turnover is just over 100mm and their profit is about 50mm. They’re not spending 10mm a year to be a stadium sponsor for Everton. They’re just not. Maybe a few million with “up to” 10mm if we win the champions league. Or it includes 2mm of billable legal hours and they are our new counsel.

I’m not even really bothered about the money or lack of ambition anyway, I don’t want us to play at the Hill Dickinson stadium ffs. If their firm was just called Hill then sure. And I’m not being immature, it’s just a crap soulless unintimidating name… even “The Etihad” or “The Amex” sounds better

What happened today underlines is that this weekend is the last we'll experience as a community-based working class football club.

From now on it's hard-nosed commercialism with scant regard to tradition.

Exactly mate.

But it appears to some on here it's all "a laff".

The name is "funny"...but it doesn't matter because club identity doesn't matter anymore...and the club are "getting £10M to spend" on players.

That's the world some people appear to live in.

I’m not sure there were a lot of suitors for the naming rights. The CEO of HD’s post said they were ‘presented with a once in a generation opportunity’ with the chance to sponsor the stadium. I wonder whether we have had to approach businesses that fit a certain profile to see if they were interested.

Maybe, we'll see. I wouldn't be surprised if the ground attracted a nickname that gets adopted as I'm not sure that either The Hill Dickinson Stadium or Bramley Moore Dock are all that catchy, to be honest. Either way, we'll know within about six months.

Know what you're saying but imo the 'dock' bit has already become somewhat obsolete. I can't remember the last time I heard anybody (in real life) call it anything other than 'Bramley Moore.' That process of people having a shortened name that doesn't sound daft began a long time ago now.

As you say though, time will tell.

50 million profit every year is a lot of money mate.

*I don’t think it’s 10 million a year either.

50 million profit every year is a lot of money mate.

It’s really not for a business. Those profits get divided among all the law partners to pay them their high salaries. You think your rich lawyer friend is OK with a 20% haircut to his pay because his firm sponsored Everton’s stadium?

Anyway here’s a list of the top 100 law firms in the world, what number do you think the Hill is?

Answer: not even close to being on the list.

I hate myself for saying this but @davek may have a point here 🤬

We’ve been asking for this for years mate.

What’s so great about not doing this, that we should stay how we are?

In case anyone’s missed it the last 30 years have been awful, how is it supposed to change by just doing the same thing we e been doing for years over and over again.

We need to leave sentimentality at the door.

It really doesn't, you're just more familiar with it. Who they heck wants to go to the Amex?
