2024/25 Beto

Obviously I don't expect him to put a number on it,that would be ridiculous. But he could say "yes I've been told a figure" ...but he hasn't been told. As I said unless he's telling porkies.
Now about that 20 a season striker that you can see signing for us🤔
Beto’s not a 20 goal a season striker mate and he cost 25/30 mil. We need a new striker even if we keep Beto, do you want us to spend 5mil on the back up??

So they don’t count the ones a keeper throws in like the Leno one , on Saturday

….i have no idea what you’re talking about now.

He was technically poor in those one-on-ones against Brentford. I always tell youngsters that goalkeepers are like Father Christmas, they invariably leave a little gift for a striker to exploit. Timing is also important. There was space in the channels down the side of the keeper but he hit it much too close.

I’m just saying his one-on-one technique isn’t great but he gets a few like the one against RS. His goal return is turning out to be decent, can’t help but like him.

I know (for some reason) there are people who don't like goals to minutes ratios but for Everton Beto has scored 15 goals in 2819 minutes.

That's a goal every 187 minutes - almost one goal every two games.

He has his faults but that's a decent goalscoring record.
I will always remember all of the flak and complaints Lukaku got, until the day we sold him.

Beto is no Lukaku, so he was bound to be called far worse things. Meanwhile, considering what we have had post-Lukaku, I think wed be foolish to part with a 10+ goal backup striker if we have any serious intentions of competing for Europe next season.

This and most of the time he's been here was under a manager who didn't realize he had forwards.

Now you're changing your narrative, nowhere have I said he should be our main striker. If he's scored 10 since January what makes you think that he wouldn't have got close to 18-20 in a full season? He's shown despite his limitations he can score on a regular basis but even more importantly he didn't throw his toys out of the pram when left on the bench so would I'd imagine rotate with whoever we might sign. But back to the plot. We need a right back, another central defender,if Gana leaves another defensive midfielder, a wide player with real pace and another striker at a minimum, and the money is coming from where? I've not bothered keeping up with the clubs finances but I'd imagine sorting out Moshiri's mess and getting the stadium finished hasn't left a lot in their budget for us. But time will tell.

….i’ll have to remember that the next time somebody doesn’t miss a penalty because the goalkeeper saved it
Well, it's still the same, a save is because it was on target. Beto rarely misses the target. If the keeper saves it, it's still on target. Harrison is a player who misses a lot, the keeper doesn't usually need to do anything with his chances. I like being pedantic 😎

….I think the objective of the game is hitting the net and not the keeper but hey ho. You see players like Rush and Lineker and see one-on-one technique.

Bit of a pointless discussion really.
