Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning Blues. Put kay to bed hours ago then made the mistake of listening to music which I’ve said before just makes me cry looking at her empty chair. I used to sell businesses and make tens of thousands redundant, now I just cry and think about what a hard hearted barsteward I used to be. I console myself by thinking that was my job, but tbh I wish I’d just taken Kay away to live on a beach on some exotic island years ago and left it all behind…..
Oh Pete I hope you feel better this morning. Music is very evocative. I have nothing but admiration for how you are looking after your lovely Kay. X

Good morning all on this sunny day here .I hope all had a peaceful night ,my heart goes out to you Pete ,how you cope is beyond me .
You all know about my son and his problems ,well he has been offered a job for an American guy to develop a game ,I didn't know but it seems if you lose your internet connection when on Chrome there is a built in game with dinosaurs you can play as you wait to be reconnected ,well this guy is launching his own browser and wants him to write a game to do a similar thing . If you understand that completely then you know more than me ! His name was put forward by the man -get this -who develpoed the like button on FB . What a world this is .
My only concern is that if it doesn't work out then what his frame of mind will be . He did work for Apple but the department closed and hen that happened they apologised and said the immortal words "We will be in touch " as you can guess that never happened and it made him disillusioned about the industry .

Being the cautious man that I am I said that he must realise that this is only an enquiry and he must treat it as just that but it is hard because he has seen a light at the end of the tunnel ,as much as I am really happy I can but hope he gets his game accepted .He has a month to produce and the first three prototypes were accepted with comments made as to how they need modifying .
It is hard to show what the game will do and at the same time not giving enough away that it would let them do it in-house but he knows what he is doing .
Have a great day all COYB
Blue even when they are adults and have families of their own we never stop worrying about our kids. All my three seem to have issues jobwise at the moment, two work in the oil industry, plus my daughter’s husband too, and my eldest’s company announced 250 redundancies from a UK force of 1000 yesterday. Avoiding politics if I can, but the Windfall Tax has literally decimated the number of jobs in the oil industry in Scotland as companies have pulled out of the UK completely or are now investing their money elsewhere. Behind the headlines it’s the workforce that suffers.

That is a downside - there is very little spontaneity now. You can't just turn round and talk to somebody. Fortunately after 5 years, we have adapted quite well. I think people have created their own virtual support/advice teams which bear no relation to the team they actually work in. My current team are quite chatty, we do have random non work conversations on the team chat. The previous team I was on, did not communicate at all. I could go for days without speaking to anybody.
I'm very much on the fence with working from home.

As I referenced earlier it is great for big projects where you need to work uninterrupted however being all together in one place promotes team work , a sense of purpose and a springboard for new ideas / development.

Anyway I'm delighted to say that almost 15 years retired now I really don't care 😂.

So, I can exclusively reveal that the first Mascoteers AGM will be held chez moi on Monday 19 May. We may have to rely on @anjelikaferrett as the only sober person ( she's driving 😂) to give a detailed account.

Photos are permitted but definitely not of the food . Sorry to those who can't make it ( @Gwladysover has the perfectly valid excuse of travelling back for Mr Gs eye appointment.)

Have a lovely day everyone.

On a happy note, after the trauma of our cat Daisy being hit by a car about six weeks ago and suffering a fractured pelvis and nerve damage to her leg I’m pleased to report all the TLC has had a big impact. Keeping her indoors these last few weeks has been stressful for all concerned as she is the most intelligent of our cats and quite vocal for a wee puss when she wants to be . Anyway we’ve now started to let out into the garden and despite a “ Hop Along Cassidy” limp is enjoying herself 🙂IMG_2117.webp

I hope a fantastic day is had by all .

I see the police have just issued a statement asking those without tickets not to congregate round the ground. The question is Do I stay or do I go? The right thing is do as I’m told I suppose. 😞
I think you will find that they will be like King Canute trying to turn the tide back.
By the way I must have missed the police statement asking the ticketless RS not to go to Analfield for the Spurs match or not to come into town for some parade or other.

Typical double standards and seeing Everton as something to be pushed around.
Won't be putting me off visiting the Old Lady one last time.
