Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

There is a whole world of talent out there...

Matgeo Retegui - Atalanta picked him up for 20m Euros, could we get him for the same if not cheaper than Delap? 24 goals this season.

Mika Biereth - Born in London and British dual citizen. Arsenal U21 who joined Sturm Graz at the start of this season before moving to Monaco. 24 goals this season too.

Jonathan David - Still only 25, 16 goals this season and free at the end of this season.

Arnaud Kalimuendo - Joined Rennes from PSG at the start of last season 15 goals this season.

Hugo Ekitike - 6`2" front man has 15 goals for Frankfurt, only cost 16m Euros from PSG

My pick would be Emanuel Emegha, 22 years old, 6`4" striker with pace and scored 14 in 27 this season for Strasbourg. Bought for 13m Euros, how much could we pick him up for?

That Emegha looks decent.

If PSR is still a issue to us, I dont think it is a right window to buy the Striker. Of course, if we can get Delap, it would be really surprised for me.
I think the rebuild will start from the back.
1. Can play either LB or RB like kwp
2. A Cb which can cover LB, prefer free transfer or a low fee young player.
3. Top class talented Midfielder like Fellani can be dominted in Mid and even go upfront in the front
4. Top class right Mid which can score like Cherki
5. Fast paced winger for counter attack

We need quality first rather than signing who need time to be ready. The squad player should sign for low fee or free transfer.

The more I sit with it I think this is probably the pragmatic approach. We are still in a pinch financially with crucial needs elsewhere. I look at the goal tally and of course am worried, that said we played half the season with all backup ST's injured, McNeil missing half the games. DCL's 3 goal contribution shouldn't be hard to fill, another season of Ndiaye, Charly if he stays I think could add to their assist/goal totals. Beto does look a different player under Moyes. A full season under him it's not hard to conceive him snag 10+ on the year.

I say all this as I think this was a very pessimistic outcome in finishes, factoring also Dyche was gaffer for 19 matches. Ultimately having the 4th lowest goal count in the division is concerning, but Moyes success is clearly not predicated on that being all that different of a total. And if Moyes had started the year I think we would have tallied more, I think the injuries were beyond likely.

Considering the amount of possible turnover in other EPL teams at ST I think there may be opportunities in the loan market that have a little more confidence than Broja gave. As either backups or starters. I think some intelligent options to buy constructions could behoove both sides. Delap is one thing because the fee is capped reasonably for the position. If he's interested it's fair to push for I think.

But we are likely wise to focus on other positions than the frontman.

I think these are the names of the summer for the position. But this is also the shortlist for most clubs in a tier currently above us. Maybe with the exception of Samu who I expect would be the first choice over most these names. The position is at a depletion market wise. I would think most those names will demand 35+ if not much more. I don't think we have a seat at the table for the likes of Ekitike, David or Retegui. Biereth, Emegha and maybe Kalimuendo are conceivable but im not sure we are wise to outlay what it might take for their signature with the financial restraints we still have.

If we dont bring a viable first team ST this window it has to come next summer. Its part of the reason I am interested what could be possible in loan's considering the amount of possible out of favor forwards (United, Chelsea etc). A way to allocate our powder elsewhere this window but get a viable addition.

Solanke and Evanlison has told us a normal striker how much are today. Would you put most of the budgets to gamble the right man is coming in? Dont forget the PSR is still affecting us. If we can improve the standard of passing, our striker can score more than we think.
PSR wise I think we also need to factor in the wages we save as of July 1st, if we lose Virgnia, Begovic, Young, Coleman, Keane, Mangala (Yes, still on loan), Doucoure, Calvert-Lewin, Harrison, Gueye, Alcaraz, Lindstrom, Broja that is a saving of (Best Estimate) £803k per week which equates to just under £42m next year. plus I`m pretty sure we will be paying a large portion of Holgates wages which will go, same with Maupay if we are still contributing.

The starting position will also be key at July 1st, at that point the club will know the last 3 PSR years position, then you can factor in prize money, will we finish 13th or 14th which could be £10m more than I expect was budgeted for, we will also have a no small uplift in season ticket sales, match day revenue and sponsorship whether that be shirt, stadium or official partners.

Of course we also need to factor in the interest costs which have been dramatically reduced, reports saying from c£50m per year down to £10m.... we passed the 3 year PSR for Year Ending 23/24 so the PSR loss combined with the previous 2 seasons will have been less than the £105m permitted, given that assumption the PSR loss for last season was less than the £35m permitted when coupled with the 2 years previous. Then biggest losses will then drop off when this season is calculated.

I think the last 2 or 3 years coupled with the new stadium and ownership will give us significant funds to go out and buy next season, £100m+ but I would hope they keep the wage bill low by not offering stupid £100k per week wages. Keeping wages low will give more money for the transfer market....

EDIT: When I say £100m+, that is wages and transfer fees i.e.

£100m - £75m Transfer £25m wages £480k p/w
£100m - £50m Transfer £50m wages £961k p/w
£100m - £25m Transfer £75m wages £1.442m p/w
It will be up to the club how the money is spent and by what split, I think higher transfer fee and low wages is probably the best way to go, we can`t get stuck with high earners like before. But I`m sure each deal will be considered on an individual basis.

Massively disagree problem with this teams is goals the defence stats have been up near the top of the table while the attacking stats of goals evt near the bottom. Striker and out wide bringing in goals has to be top of the list
Top 5 defence and 19th attack…this sesson. Most draws in league.

Turn those draws to wins and your playing European football

I couldn't agree less.

Our defence is fine ( of course we need 2 fullbacks ).

The midfield lacks quality and creativity.

We don't have anyone capable of scoring on a regular basis.

Therefore if we are tight on PSR and / or money any funds should be prioritised on a goalscorer and player with pace and goals to play from the right.

Half of Biereth goals were scored in the Austrian league and David is almost certainly going to a bigger club, probably a CL club and wages beyond what we can pay.

I don`t think any club will come in a for a player earning £36k p/w and say I`m going to give you £125k p/w, clubs are businesses especially in these times that they will need to get him as cheap as possible, most leagues will struggle to offer the wages of PL clubs.

Avg Premier League wage £67k p/w
La Liga 44.7k EUR (£38.1k)
Serie A 34.6 EUR (£29.5k)
Bundesliga 31.2k EUR (£26.6k)
Lique 1 22.6k EUR (£19.2k)
