2024/25 David Moyes

Another warrior championing the cause of mediocrity. Do you think Kendal had unlimited cash when he built the 84-85 team?! He had to scrape the money together to buy Reid and Gray!
There's these guys, they own countries in the middle east that produce millions of barrels of oil. Since they got involved, 'scraping' by means being relegated.

I'm all for stability but there needs to be a level of expectation. Moyse has always been a pragmatist first. The fact that both Newcastle and Villa have both been in the Championship not too long ago and now look like they're going to both be in the CL means we should be able to do it too. Time will tell.

Qualifying for the Champions league would be an amazing achievement. Wage budgets generally dictate league position. We’ll be nowhere near top 5 wages wise.

We’re actually not too far off where we should be based on league position:

“11. Everton – £69,342,000

“Everton have had some well-publicised financial problems in recent years and they’ve had to offload some of their highest earners.

“Their wage bill has dropped from £107.6million-per-year in the 2021/22 season to £69.3million-per-year in the current campaign.”

Last home win was 1st February.

I don't know how that's blissfully went under the radar, but won 2 of 10 at home since his return.

Blimey, that's as bad as Dyche 😂
Moyes has turned what would have been draws into a couple of wins. The last few months, probably since Brentford, standards have slipped again, and we seem to be drawing games that are there to be won. United and Ipswich are prime examples of this, and with the next two similar sort of games, I can see tow more flat performances before a no show up at Newcastle where we get spanked 3 or 4 nil. The way things have gone these last few weeks its like Dyche has returned, except we`re actually scoring .

From the guy that said we were “ safe” being one point above the drop zone and making up hypothetical scenarios for Moyes “ wilting” and stating it as though it is fact?
You're saying that you think that in the last 17 games we've had - if it'd have been under Dyche - we'd have picked up 5 points?

FFS, it's utterly certifiable to believe that.

This is Moyes' problem now. The expectation that comes with new owners and money to spend has been heightened by the achievements of Emery and Nuno Espirito Santo. I don't think either of them are directly comparable to the current state of things here but we should welcome expectation in my opinion.

I'm confident that things will improve and we can hope for a top half finish, if not next season the year after. My guess is thats about the ceiling for Moyes' in his second spell and that he will have to hand over to someone else to build on that.

I'd probably take that even if it's underwhelming. I'd be looking at a points target rather than league placing next season. The big fly in the ointment is how good or otherwise the recruitment will be.
