New kit for the last game?

Interestingly, in the programme it states that it will be a "commemorative top" rather than a kit. On that basis, I don't think it will be worn by the players during the Southampton match.

Instead, I think supporters will be given the opportunity to purchase the top to wear at the final game or whenever else they wish to wear it.

If that is the real shirt for next season, I am inclined to think that the wave pattern in some way represents the River Mersey.

As the tweet mentions, it is not a great shirt. My view on Castore is that they are lacking in imagination at times and I much preferred Hummel, who provided plenty of nods to the club's history and identity. To be fair I have seem poorer shirts, but I think something could have been produced with broader appeal in mind.

Looking properly at that promo from the programme, two things leap out to me…

First, the Castore logo is notably absent. That wouldn’t be missing from an ad for a match kit. There’s just the Fanatics logo and the heritage Everton badge.

Second, and most tellingly, it’s labelled as a “fan top.”

I think this is just merch that will be released to coincide with the final game. It doesn’t suggest it’s what the players will wear to me.

Been ages since we had a semi reputable kit manufacturer
Whilst that may be true, I must say that I preferred some of the Hummel kits to the ones offered by other manufacturers, including Nike (arguably the highest profile kit manufacturer in world football). Larger manufacturers tend to produce somewhat generic kits without the nods to the club's identity.

On the flipside, having a well-recognised manufacturer could boost sales, which is the most important thing for the club at the end of the day. Castore both lack the reputation and quality to stand up to the more established brands.

The gambling ban isn't in til the season after next.

They are exiting their UK business but we aren't sponsored by their UK business, Stake.com is their global business. Plenty of other clubs have or have had gambling sponsors with no UK facing business (think of all the far eastern bookies none of us have heard of that have been on shirts) and this would be no different.

The gambling commission wrote to us telling us to seek assurance that UK customers can't access Stake.com and I assume if we continue with them we have received those assurances. And so can continue, as much as I'd prefer we didn't.

surely if they can bin it for a new one quicker they will?

Do we have a quality control department or anything like that?

A lot of our stuff over the years looks cheap and half hearted to me.

Im not saying it’s a big deal and god knows people go out of their way to tell everyone else how not arsed they are about this stuff , I just think it would be nice to have some genuinely smart kits/training gear (I know that’s subjective) especially at the prices they put on them.

I'd be surprised if we see anything about next seasons kit before the whole Stake issue has been sorted.

Not relevant to the kit but I remember DBB saying "we wouldn't ever use a gambling sponsor" or something on those lines.

Next season we got sport pesa,

Got their head office moved into the liver building (after Moshiri and pals bought it) as part of the deal.

They also tweeted Liverpool type "banter" when we lost once.
