New kit for the last game?

This was in the programme yesterday. Not sure if it’s something we’ll wear against Southampton or just a casual top they’ll be flogging.

we haven’t worn the new kit on the last day since Unsworth and Royal took over for the final game against Norwich at the end of the 15/16 season.

I think this will be some sort of special kit or shirt, that Cambridge blue is the colour we wore back in 1892, look at the old badge at the top of the page as well.
I can’t see it being next seasons kit, I think there is still a good chance we will have a new stadium and front of shirt sponsor before then. I know Stake have another season left on the contract but all these contracts have break clauses and normally the shirt and stadium sponsors are the same company.

From a marketing point of view for the final game a replica of the first ever kit used a Goodison I'd imagine would have sold well. Too late now though.
Our first kit at Goodison was red shirts and dark blue shorts, so i doubt it.
Our first kit back in 1878 however, was blue and white stripes

That was the last kit we wore at Anfield.

Makes sense why that lot inherited red.

This was the first kit at Goodison - and it seems from the programme that we’ll be wearing a tribute to it against Southampton.

Salmon and it's been our second kit before
"The first football match at Goodison Park was on 2 September 1892 between Everton and Bolton Wanderers. Everton wore its new club colours of salmon and dark blue stripes and won the exhibition game 4–2.

The RS played in these colours for years as they used the Cambridge blue shirts Everton had left behind upon leaving Anfield, when the Tory put the rent up.

They’ve always been proper meffs. Never original, no soul.

Be good to see us in something special for the last game, and a replica of the first kit at Goodison ticks that box.

On a side not, hope we go back to black and blue or blue and white hooped socks on the next kit.

Where did the commemorative kit stories first come from?

Was it a deflect tactic in response to the home kit negativity or is there something actually being produced?
