Ipswich fans

I rarely give any credit to away fans, but Ipswich fans were fantastic today. No boring anti Scouse sign on sign on chants, no feed the Scousers nonsense. They just got behind their side and engaged in banter in the right way. Plenty of their fans before the game admiring GP, plenty engaging with Everton fans about modern game. It's a shame they're going down very noisy, but also very classy knowledgeable fans. It's a shame other away supporters aren't like them. Forest fans in particular could learn a lot from Ipswich fans.

Ye, plenty of them on the train to and from Kirkdale admiring Bramley Moore as they went past

Maybe some other long in the toothers🤣 can verify this but in my minds eye the finest ever display I have seen in all my time at Goodison was Bobby Robsons Ipswich way back in 1980,they took us apart with "total football",Muhren,Thijssen,Gates,Mariner,Beattie,Brazil,Mills,what a display in fact I think it was the fourth goal by Gates which was the finest "team goal" I have witnessed,they got a deserved standing ovation at the end and Mariner I recall was quoted afterwards as saying he had never witnessed such warmth from a home gallery👍

Ye that was a great team, seen some good games between us and Ipswich home and away, great day out on the ‘special’

You are correct…what a team and display on the day.

We then beat them in the FA Cup a few weeks later…Everton that!

….Alan Brazil says that particular game at Goodison was the noisiest stadium he ever played in, he said it was incredible being on the pitch.

The other Ipswich related point I’d make is I’m pretty sure Bobby Robson was actually on the pitch when we secured the title in ‘63. I’ve seen a picture of him after the final whistle in his Fulham kit and he looks like he’s genuinely taking the atmosphere in. He always had a soft spot for The Toffees.

Edit; found it (looks like a young Alan Mullery too);

Would have been our manager but the board messed it up, a great manager.
