The rain, it raineth every day
I've supped in Wetherspoons, as no doubt many of you have. The beers are normally OK, sometimes very good, and half the price of the majority of pubs. Today, I had a couple in Wetherspoons, they were fine, nothing exceptional, but drinkable. Later, went to a micro pub, double the price, but was double the quality and taste. Would you sacrifice quality for price ? Difficult decision isn't it if you're skint. Notwithstanding the Brexiteer owner of course.

And for an early beer, whether at the airport or with a full English before a lunchtime KO

Do both tbh, the micropub isn't generally expensive for a real ale, not when another local establishment charges nearly £6 for lager.

Well, I'm no beer snob so their drinks are fine for me.

And 'spoons is fantastic for saving and restoring some lovely historic buildings across the country, meaning some wonderful settings to drink in.
Spot on. I don’t really drink beer but at £1/2 a go I will, and I can work in there and get very drunk for about 25 with food. In today’s age you can’t argue with that, the feller who own it might be a royal tosser but it’s hard to be principled these days.

'Snob' infers a haughty disdain ; just saying the quality varies. If you're happy with that, good on yer. I suppose it depends on what's your tipple.

Seems pretty hip to have a jibe at Weatherspoons lately.

Not for me , I've been in a lot worse establishments (& sadly still do ) mainly owned by huge companies that serve vastly overpriced generic fare .
My local Spoons i can get a hot cooked breakfast cheaper than a McDonalds.
A decent fish & chips , plenty of kids meals too & a hearty Roast.
I get a very decent pint of Guinness for under 4 quid and a very good selection of reasonably beers & lagers plus guest tipples.

But if the hipsters don't fancy it that's fine go somewhere else to get your wallet lightened.

It depends on what you want. I'm not exactly flush, cheap is my middle name. I go to Wetherspoons, some are dives, usually of course in the poorest neighbourhoods, some are very nice. You get what you pay for, my point was, the quality can vary, and if you can find better, would you be willing to pay for it. Swings and roundabouts

If your first name is 'chirpy' and last name is 'cheap' as well, then you should be in showbiz.
