Without dwelling on the politics unduly, the concern is that Labour address this with a further move to the centre right. They are certainly not the Labour of old when it comes to Ireland and quite frankly I am disgusted by Hilary Benn. For any of you watching the election results from Runcorn and Cheshire, the counting , interviews and announcement shown on TV took place at Halton Table Tennis club which , apart from yesterday obviously, has 8 tables permanently set up and is the North West centre of excellence for TT.
It's a 2nd home for me and woefully inadequate as a hub for NW ping pong.
I think people would be genuinely surprised how popular table tennis is. This week I went to a new club set up in Old Roan Methodist Church and there were over 65 people wanting to play and ages ranged between 8 and 80 with players of all standard from beginners to those representing England.
When I win the lottery I will build a proper centre somewhere in Merseyside.
Anyway it's Friday so after housework , gym and gardening I will allow myself some moderate imbibing.
Election results so far look terribly worrying, it looks like we are following very closely in America's footsteps. The worst of it are that Labour appear to be tone deaf and not listening or learning. This continuing mantra of "we inherited a mess " true as it might be just won't wash with people.
Tomorrow is cricket day and with the club short of volunteers I've agreed to help out behind the bar - any tips @peteblue ?
Have a lovely day everyone.
And as for bar tips, generous measures and plenty of banter and they’ll be asking you back
