The whole thing is a cynical swizz.
Pay more, get less, record only on our box - and when that goes you can't keep the recordings...
Nah, not for me.
As a member of Gen X, I grew up with VHS and was happy to move to DVD and then bluray. Recording was standard. Then the powers that be decided that recording was "illegal" and concepts of fair use went out the window. But what corporate technology takes with one hand, innovative user-friendly technology gives back, and I bought myself a Cloner Alliance UHD Pro recorder. Magnificent. Stream and record anything to mp4. And, whisper it, keep it. On a memory stick or hard drive.
Sky have gone out of their way to make their "offering" more expensive and less user-friendly over the years. I have found that when I can record pretty much anything, I spend less time watching "live" football as there is so much content out there to explore with a VPN and Youtube. Maybe I can do this more easily as live football was never a given for my generation. I was 11 before the first league game ever went live on ITV: Spurs v Forest, 1983. Lots of highlights out there - and loads of AI-remastered classic footage too.
TLDR: Old fart moves on.
