Why? As much as I love him and he loves us, his injury record is a major concern.

Availability is a massive factor in football and it's been a huge part of our problems in the past few seasons.

EDIT: Should add as a caveat if you can guarantee his fitness I agree it's a no brainer to bring him back.

If we can get 25-30 games from him - which he's managed 7 times from the last 8 seasons, then I think he scores 8-10 goals.

That would be massive, particularly from wide areas. By quick comparison;

NDiaye 7, Beto 6... McNeil, Doucoure 3. Lindstrom 0, Harrison, 1

15 goals in his last 39 premier league appearances for Spurs - reckon a good chunk of that are sub appearances too.

It's important though to recognise the average minutes he's played rather than just games. That was high with us and has been low at Spurs. Partially due to Conte not fancying him much at the start but under Ange it has been mostly injury related issues.

This season his average minutes per game is 38. His goal contribution rate is every 108 minutes. Granted though it's more difficult to contribute when you're only getting bit part appearances.

I agree if he can stay fit then it would be a no brainer but I worry about his ability to stay fit currently. A loan partially mitigates the risk but not fully.

That's just politics: he's not been fancied by managers at Spurs.

No brainer. If we can get him back then do it. One of the most passionate, loyal and skilful players we have ever had. If we can come up with a good deal that gets one over on Spurs at the same time then even better.

Exactly, and he has a little snide about him. Gets you that free kick when we are hanging on to a lead and completely stops the game and momentum.
