There where moments in his time here when he looked decent only to go into a spiral downwards of form.i wonder if he had mental blocks or challenges?
I remember listening to a podcast, and they said he does suffer with anxiety. Thats why he was better during covid when there were no fans.

He had two good seasons with us from what I can recall.
One with Zouma, the other next to Mina under Ancelotti during the COVID season.

Just hasn't worked out for him.

That wasn’t even a good season, just a good block of 4 or 5 home games. We had the 6-2 against Spurs, the Millwall debacle, the Newcastle away capitulation and other similar nonsense all in that season. The defence was a mess for a quite large part of it.

That was Kenwright's Everton where we would give him a rip roaring send off.

Friedkin's Everton; FO Michael, you useless turd.
I'd like to think we're still a club that sends players on their way in a classy manner. An injury-time cameo to a good reception from the crowd. He's never caused a problem at Everton or complained about losing his place. Yes he's not very good, but he doesn't choose the team. Round of applause, thanks, best wishes and all the best.

He's clearly a good bloke and a good pro as is evidenced by 8 successive Everton managers giving him a chance. One has to assume that he's always on time for training, puts in a good shift each and every time and even looks half decent on the training ground. But the poor lad must have match day scar tissue because he quite simply loses all aspects of himself on the football field. He ends up being a net negative. Not even a zero. You'd be better off with 10 men on the field than 10 men plus Micheal Keane.

It seems far fetched to say we'd be better off with ten men,but with Keane it's probably true.

This is a really good post. Class is just, class. Booing him out of the door is not class.

Was he a great player for us? Probably not in the great scheme of things. He got a few England caps so clearly not a fool. I'm glad he's going, we need better now. But I wish him well.

I think the pressure of playing for Everton can be underestimated, I suspect a lot of contemporary players think they going to a mid level club only to get here and struggle under the weight of the history and expectation of the fan base.
Appreciate he came through the ranks at Utd but even then when winning the league was expected (almost a given) it will have been a different type of pressure.
Can’t imagine what it must be like to be a player at a club the size of Everton only to sail dangerously close to relegation multiple times, especially if you are a person who actually cares.
