2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

I would be happy for him to get a two year contract obviously at a lower rate. Just read the forest forum and lots of their fans were impressed by Doucore
Maybe they will do a swap with Gibbs white. I don’t want to watch him for 2 more months never mind 2 yrs.
What’s the plan? Do we want to actually kick on, or just keep giving poor players deals into their mid 30’s deals on stupid money

His performances for us since we bought him.

It’s objective. Some think he’s been rubbish, I personally think he’s been a very good player for us.
I think people confuse the definition of a good player, and that of an effective player. To the eye Doucoure does not look good but he is effective at breaking up the opposition play and scoring important goals. That is what he is (over)paid to do, so personally I like him in the team. Hopefully if the plan is to release him then the club has as an effective replacement in its sights, if this is not the case he gets an extension.

He’s got 3 goals in 30 games, how many have been important ? I’d say yesterdays wasn’t, it’s great to win a game in the 94th minute, but we ain’t going down and we ain’t getting Europe. How many assists does he have ??
How many chances has he ruined due to poor play, a terrible touch or pass or being in the wrong place.

We’ve won 1 in 7, if he had much better players than doucoure, Harrison, lindstrom and Beto, we’d have won 4 or 5.

he really does need moving on

if he is to stay to bolster numbers it should be on no more than 30k, will he accept that?

he shouldnt be starting next year, he shouldn’t be starting now

the real difference makers to the overall play were Alcaraz and McNeil, they should be getting game time in the next few fixtures

It’s clear he frustrates a significant portion of the fan base, but when he scores it does paper over the cracks somewhat.

Will start next game, and tbh no one should be surprised or have complaints when he does. It’s when he doesn’t contribute positively other than ‘covering ground’ that the naysayers (me included) have a valid point about how he negatively effects our attacking threat.

I agree to a point, but he will start next game (correctly too, IMO), and Moyes won’t put him in the two cm slots… so that leaves McNeil & Alcaraz vying for the wide slots - Harrison had one of his better games for us v Forrest, so he’s starting most likely, and that leaves Ndaiye, who no one (in the fan base) wants to drop.

realistically though, we are not signing Harrison, so what is the point in playing him

If we agreed a 80k new 1 year deal,
He’d also get a big signing on fee, that money would pay for Alcaraz next season and he’d been on less wages. It’s a no brainer really
