2024/25 David Moyes

I think there are a lot of strong teams compared to previously, but no real ‘elite’ teams bar them lot, Arsenal and City.

I would say personally the mid table sides are a lot more competitive than they used to be. Could you imagine a tiny club like Bournemouth signing Porto’s number 9 for 40m 15 years ago for example?

I think like you say that top 10 is there for the taking but there are a lot of sides who’d feel that way now. Look how much the newly promoted sides are struggling year on year.
Forest, Fulham, Brighton, B'mouth, Brentford...

It would;t take much to show that lot a clean pair of heels if we had a proper slotter and pace on the flanks. That's doable in the summer if Moyes insists on cash for it rather than keeping his head down...which is what he's always done with owners.

There’s plenty more to throw into that mix as well. And right this second I would swap our squad with any of the above without blinking.

Don’t downplay the job Moyes is doing here, we both criticised this exact squad enough whilst Dyche was manager.

Moyes will know exactly what we need. Some real pace out wide and a sprinkle of quality in central midfield and up top and we’d be a real handful. Even at Anfield with some proper pace on the counter and guile in the middle I think we would have won that the way we set up.

This Moyes is a better version than the one we had, 100%. Whether it’s a long term fit or not is anyone’s guess still but he’s doing a great job.

West Ham spend about 350m when he was there.

God, if your gonna say something, at least have it based on some reality.

Crazy how people have to be this tribal with their own fans as fully grown adults 😂.

I think Moyes has done a fantastic job with a really limited squad. It’s a really tough league as well. That lot today id swap squads with in a heartbeat - we outplayed them today.

Testament to the job the guy has done, give him his dues.
I just find it funny. The change in the whole atmosphere of the club, both in terms of performance but also actually the atmosphere in the ground and within the wider fan base etc yet some are still trying to find any little reason to detract from him.

I was fully behind him from day one as fully believed he would do the job we needed on the pitch but also reconnect the club to the fans. But he wasn’t necessarily the direction I wanted us to go, but it’s what we needed.

It’s short term even if he sees out his contract and he will actually set the foundations for the next manager.

Indeed, he wasnt really my choice, would have rather we went for Sexy Fonseca or somebody.

But he came in and put relegation to bed, few less than ideal draws recently, but have people seen our attackers?

He deserves to spend a few bob in the summer and have a crack, I doubt hes gonna win us the league and at some point, results will drive him out, but for now, In Moyes we trust.

Yep I think realistically he was the perfect appointment. Hopefully he can lay strong foundations for the next manager by the time he leaves. Perfect transition manager for the new ground and to hopefully rebuild a competitive squad.

5 years time we might be looking back at it as a master stroke.

….exactly as I see it and I suspect exactly as the owners see it.

I'm not. I'm saying he needs to spend big on those four positions: CF + RW + LW + LB.

I think we're ok in the middle. McNeil could play inside behind a striker and create loads of chances, as could Garner.

He has gave Everton some credibility back. We were an embarrassment. And i felt embarrassed to be an Everton fan under Dyche. We showed nothing in games. And then on top of that he belittled the club and Everton fans telling them this was the best you'll get.
Everton are now going into games competing to win. That should never even be a topic. But thats how bad he was.
In just over two months Moyes has pulled the club back and we're not being looked at as a joke.
Any Everton fans poking Moyes with a stick should have a look at themselves.

I don’t think Garner would be great though but McNeil might work if you did get pace out wide/power in the middle.

For me that second CM slot is well up for grabs next to Gana. That will determine massively what the next ‘10’ starter looks like.

If it’s doucoure I’d say we’ve made mistakes with recruitment.

W5 D6 L2 in 13 league games. That would be a 61 point pace. Maybe too many draws but miles better than where we’ve been. With a squad that’s still pretty poor.

Anyone complaining right now just needs something to complain about so they can function.
I think his best season here was 65 points IIRC.
