2024/25 David Moyes

I don't think it's ridiculous to point out that the guy managed us for 12 years and failed to win a single competition! In the time he was here Middlesborough, Birmingham, Swansea, Wigan and Portsmouth won cup competitions. No other manager in the top flight, apart from Ferguson and Wenger, managed one club for so long.

Were we set up at any point in that time to win trophies? Genuinely?

What was our transfer outlay v the top 4? Even vs Spurs Newcastle Villa. Players were choosing Birmingham and Charlton ahead of us at times because they were offering bigger fees and paying more.

The teams you’ve listed are now all in lower leagues and some of them went into administration. They won an isolated trophy each, and the fact they did whilst bigger spending teams like Newcastle Villa Spurs didn’t (2008 league cup aside) just shows that they were one off events and not the result of being set up to win trophies. Arguably we had our one off event in 95.

Structurally we’ve not been set up to win trophies since the start of the PL era.

Moyes took over this club 7 years after we won a trophy. How long is an era? I agree that now, thirty years after last winning a trophy, is comparing apples and oranges but not in 2002.

P.S. why are you talking about Dyche in the Davey Moyes thread. You gotta let it go, SD, he's gone now, he can't hurt you any more.

Just bringing up the hypocrisy on both sides of the fence.

Fortunately you’re entirely consistent in being a delusional crank in terms of what you want from a manager so it doesn’t apply to you.

Ha ha. It's delusional to want us to improve and eventually win something? I think that says more about you than it does about me, SD.

Everyone wants to improve, you just direct your ire in the wrong place all the time. For you everything is always the fault of the manager.

It was a convenient game when Dyche was here but now that Moyes is and he’s a proven quality it really need to stop for a period.

Investment in top players, and keeping those top players fit are two much more important factors for us currently than getting bent out of shape about what time Moyes makes subs in a match etc.

But knowing this forum the same people will still be slamming Moyes and Dyche next season if the Friedkins extend Doucoure and DCL and add a few loans as their only business.

Well, Moyes has proven, quite dramatically, that Dyche definitely was part of the problem. I'm not a huge fan of Moyes but he's levels above the lad that you can't stop bringing up.

Putting that to one side, I'm not sure what it is from my posting history that makes you think I haven't been blaming the ownership for our problems. I was highly critical of Kenwright and Moshiri and I've been lukewarm at best to the Friedkins (although I'll wait and see with them before making any firm decisions). It's my opinion that this club has been run worse than a school tuck shop for three decades or more and that poor managerial appointments, of which there have been many, is a symptom of that.

But, you know, keep thinking I only think it's the managers fault if that continues to fuel your righteous indignation. You know I love it.

Good to see you can glimpse the bigger picture then, maybe you should consider it more often.

The last few pages just highlight why I don't think bringing Moyes back was the right choice. Personally I'm a fan but there's too much water under the bridge with him, people already have their minds made up about what he is and at a time when we were crying out for a fresh start it feels like we aren't going to get one.

thing is we have already. he’s come in and done what a decent manager can do

all managers have there floors

we will be in the top 10 nxt year and when was the last time we did that!

Not one of those teams are in the Prem now, by the way.

Correct mate.

Moyes is defo not the man to rebuild this team. It calls for a new manager with the motivation and vision to propel us where we belong: top half of the table and never leave there again; Euro places most seasons and the chance of cup successes. That's what we should be demanding as a minimum.

I will NEVER dumb down my expectations of Everton: like you, have been to the top of the mountain and I want us back there again.

These other posters who think cardy-wearing dullard Moyes is best for Everton have lost any idea of what Everton is about.

We have a world class stadium and they still dream about 40 points per season.

Let's be bold. Let's get back up there as contenders...it;s a crap league and it wont take much besides a very handy new manager and a bit of spending.

There's no cash. Wake up FFS.

Moyes will be ok with that. No expectation.

If he stays - ok. I wont be arsed.

But I hope he does leave ASAP.

He wasn't who TFG wanted and I cant see them not sweeping clean at the first opportunity. IMO it'd be far better to get shut of him now.

You posted these 9 minutes apart btw.

Went from arguing the Moyes needs binning as we need to be bold and back a new manager with a bit of spending to saying there is no cash less than 10 mins later.

All over the place.

There's no contradiction. Read it again. I'm saying there's no cash but a bit of it + a bold new manager is all we need to get moving quickly in the right direction.

Getting a new manager in - in readiness in the next few seasons for the financial restrictions to slacken - is what we can do now.

Thanks Dave, but we get it, you dont like Moyes.

Nothing else needs to be said.

We understand.

How can there be no cash but also a bit of cash?
