New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

This is quite good from Colin Chong , we are five years ahead of any competitor and are in talks with Peel about buying Nelson Dock and building something “complimentary “ to BMD…
Very impressive thought process by our new overlords. Clearly, we may need to expand the stadium when we are back in the CL. What better way to “protect the asset” than by buying the adjacent dock?

They might have to dig up Everton Way, mind…

Are our new owners finding new ways to beat psr? Everton developments?
PSR is easy to bypass, Chelsea, City, United and other clubs have been doing it for years, Everton could very easily have escaped any punishment if only they werent utter morons.

Or to give them a minor pass, if the Ukraine war didnt happen, that war utterly shafted us in every direction.

Imagine if we bought all the land down to Costco and developed retail, hospitality and entertainment spaces. We'd be generating revenue on man united levels.

Yeah, your blue section is basically what I had in mind. It might just make expansion possible without totally distorting the roofline and making everything totally lopsided like SJP or Anfield. Obviously the other side you could "easily" expand would be the east stand but this would have more chance of ending up ugly I think, with a silly looking mega stand stuck on the side. Cant ever see any scope on the North or West

Its a long way ahead anyway even as a theoretical discussion. But it would be nice if we were now the type of club that had half an eye on 15/20 years ahead and created options for ourselves.
The only reason we had to leave Goodison was because the footprint was too small to expand on. We can never find ourselves in that position again. We must have scope to go to 60 or 75k if we need to. Buying up surrounding land is critical.

I agree, but this is not a bad 'substitute' like...

Actually, David, THAT is the real waterfront view that impresses. I’m not a huge fan of the Nelson Dock-facing architecture - but the waterfront side is genuinely spectacular. Needs a ferry.

I guess it depends on what any expansion would look like or to what extent but support posts/pillars could be put on the other side of the Everton Way without disrupting it. It would effectively form a tunnel underneath the stand similar to that on the North Stand.

Yes, as soon as I posted that I thought maybe they keep Everton Way but that it becomes a covered area (which supports the extra capacity in the stand) as you say. I really think we need the ability to expand when the time comes. No serious club wants to hem its growth in.

Y
Would it not be better and cheaper to take up the land and buildings behind the North stand ?

That would allow us to make that North Stand as big as the South.....also doesnt block the view of South to City.

It's the water treatment plant for north Liverpool mate, would probably cost some serious wedge and major infrastructure to reroute all the sewage

Yeah, I always expected the neighbouring dock to be swallowed up by Everton. It was unrealistic to believe it wouldn't.

A club with ambition should have the long term ambition to secure Salisbury and Collingwood docks too. Although I suppose the heritage luddites would go spare.
