2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

….looks like he’s still first choice here, Moyes called him a very valuable member of the team.

Interesting to see if he’s selected ahead of Alcaraz again, if so I’d be surprised if Moyes is not already trying to persuade him to extend.
Didn’t you say he’d get a 2yr deal not so long ago. What do you expect Moyes to say, he’s crap and can’t wait to get rid in the summer. There’s no way I’d want doucoure as first choice next season or Beto for that matter and I’d imagine Moyes is the same, we’re safe now and we should be planning for next season. I don’t really want soucek but Moyes is definitely a fan of him and he’s an upgrade on doucoure

Alcaraz…. 10 years younger, potential to be a fan favourite, fraction of his wage, very likely more end product.

Could we have gotten better, probably not. Again, not a massive fan of his but can’t fault the job he has done for us keeping in mind what we paid for him, the team / managers, plus what we have spent on others during the last 7-8 years!

However, he should be nowhere near 100k+ per week.
Alcaraz does not play in that role.
Not his fault he earns that, bad financial management by EFC

What role exactly does Doucoure play? In most cases he is often playing supporting the striker, with recently Gana and Garner behind him. This is where I would be playing Alcaraz too!

Didn't say it was his fault...... but if we have the option to not pay him that, then I take that option every day!

Can’t be having our full midfield doing Ramadan like in previous years with Gueye, Doucoure and Onana because it definitely has an impact.

Keep him on the bench for March and give Alcaraz a run of games.

All 2 of them in March! But fully agree..... let's get Alcaraz in there!

He is not as bad as some have decided. Yes, often tires in the second half, yes, he gives the ball away too much. But he is full of energy, running, pops up regularly with crucial goals. Thing is, could we, given our recent history etc, have got better? Can we find a suitable replacement soon?

I said CRUCIAL goals
You did not Sir, you said he "pops up regularly", which obviously is nowhere near true! Better would be "he's scored a small handful of crucial goals in his five years at Everton". Certainly nothing regular about it though G.

Whatever, the thing is, I appreciate him, he did a job, never hides, when some others players did, but they were not slagged off as much.
I always stick up for the players many of our fans pick up...
