Players purchased at West Ham under Moyes. A few belters obviously, but not many. Poor recruitment overall. Some serious money wasted and plenty of players who have never been any good.

I'd be really wary of assuming Moyes would get it right because he signed some belting players for us between 15 and 20 years ago.

He's also nearly 62 years old and has 2 years left on his contract. We need some continuity around the club.

Gutted he's left. But when someone mentioned he was obsessed with getting in Danjuma and throw into that a few others.
I trust Moyes though and if Moyes wanted him I reckon he would have stayed, I would assume Moyes has someone lined up he would rather work with

Still waiting for someone to explain to me how he's done a bad job.

Don't understand the enthusiasm from some for him leaving.

The ones I've seen have been something about him being a kopite, having a big nose, having signed Maupay, having sold our best players, having left us short in attacking areas, not being a "football person", not being confident enough in front of the camera and not having resigned when decisions were taken above his head.

I think that about covers it.

Nope, me neither.

I mention it because you were seeming to give Doherty credit for players that Atalanta have signed - he's their UK scout and they've only signed one player from the UK while he's been there, so it's not unreasonable to mention his name?
Ok that's fair...I did 'they' and not 'him' let's be honest, you're no mug if Atalanta are making you chief UK scout.

Am personally not going to use the Godfrey stick to beat him with.

I mean has it been that poor? Soucek, Bowen, Alvarez Paqueta, Kudos etc have all been really good players who what he paid for them?
They are the main ones. Coufal has also been a decent one - a bit more of an old-school Moyes signing. But the rest have been poor and a lot of money has been shelled out for dross. The list is generally quite uninspiring. Moyes still can't sign a decent striker to save his life.

We need a proper DoF, not Moyes and his scouts.

Doesn't worry me in the slightest.

Moyes is great at spotting potential in a player.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Moyes actually becomes DoF at some point in the future, quite possibly within the term of his present contract
Brilliant, why don't we run it by Garry Birtles too?

Our circumstances mean that Moyes is the right managerial appointment for our situation (something tbf I was unsure on for what it will do longer term). We need to counter that by being progressive and being at the forefront of things again, not playing catch-up. Giving Moyes control because he found us Pienaar in 2007 etc, is not how to do that.

The game moves on quickly.

Because people still believe the bull of the last manager that these players were impossibly poor and think Moyes is an absolute genius, when the truth is in-between the two.

Thelwell signed a lot of good players in an impossible financial situation, continued to add to the squad regularly despite money issues (remember those years under Kenwright when we couldn't sign anybody?) and has kept us solvent.

Think he’s done a really good job personally and think he has a better signings record than Moyes at West Ham, given the difference in situations, budgets and status.

Yet everyone hates him. Think it's mad myself.

And for the record, Moyes is doing a very good job as manager. But he isn't a miracle worker - he is getting these players to play to their full potential!
