He's worked in a tough environment, but when he's had money to spend he's spaffed it up the wall.
O'Brien, Iroegbunam, Ndiaye, Gueye, Garner.

His only real dud was Maupay and he was gone within 12 months.

Beto was a desperation deal where we needed somebody with no money to put down, and his goals may have ended up keeping us up.

Isnt that Doherty - the same as who used to work for Everton? Hes at Atalanta now right?

I imagine Weir as technical director and then head scouts working for him in the recruitment role.

I just dont want this to put a massive summer back, back to recruiting latter end of the year - hoping Moyes has a huge say on whats needed to anyone new coming in.
I could imagine Rob Newman comes in to head recruitment. He worked with Moyes at West Ham I think. Maybe Weir to come in and do all the other sporting director stuff outside of recruitment.

Part of me is wary about this, if we go Weir and Doherty beneath him, its back to old boys club 😂

I have no idea if they're best for the job if they are so be it - but you know the shouts be coming already about this.

….i know Mick a little, he’s a proper football lad and knows a player. Fine footballer himself. Thats the important thing.

Not surprising. It makes sense because the new owners appear to want to have a fresh start throughout the club but I think he's done a decent job overall given the parameters he's worked under. Will be thankful for some of the players he's signed like Garner, Ndiaye, Beto (;)), amongst others. Can leave with his head held relatively high to be fair. Think this Beto resurgence under Moyes has given him a bit of credit in the bank as he leaves. Don't think he will find it hard to get another job.
