What was proposed in the planning applications etc re travel?

It is exactly what was laid out in the planning application. I questioned it multiple times, during the consultation periods, at Shareholder's meetings with the club since, and also with several others on these threads from the start.

The basic public transport numbers never stacked up, but most people weren't interested initially. Even as the build progressed..... most simply said that it was all in hand and the club/authorities knew what they were doing. Some even said it was negative doom-mongering, and that it was comprehensively covered in the planning application, referencing the relevant docs etc. Obviously without reading them!

So surely the club would have had concerns?

….was down there earlier, not a sole in sight which is I suppose concurs with the original spec. Indeed, even with the new ground it’s only likely to be crazy busy on a limited number of occasions each year but it’s vital those occasions can be managed, especially from a safety perspective.

The risk appears to have been kicked down the road by a Council lacking leadership and foresight, at least the test event has highlighted this issue.

Surely it's on the authorities to develop the infrastructure around the ground, not the football club. I am sure Everton has kept the local authority informed of the different stages. What's missing here is the local authority contribution to the development which is non existent. Not surprised really.

This needs capitalising on before it becomes vogue. With people comes interest, with interest comes opportunity, and opportunity means redeveloping the area to expand and reenergise. A bit of vision.

….good point, I know the vision is for the ground to be used on a daily basis but obviously that station need to be in a position to accommodate 50k fans on occasion. Dreadful lack of planning.

On the subject of non-matchday use and bars / restaurants / club shop being open for business = where are people going to park ?

Depends what was agreed at Planning.... the club are very much part of that whole process. Spurs and Arsenal both had to contribute substantially to their infrastructure requirements.

Rotheram (again): if that rapid transport idea gets off the ground, btw, it'll only be because it's a solution to Liverpool FCs demands for a better service from the airport for their increase of 10,000 more matchday fans. The route will then be extended on toward the Everton Stadium on that basis only.

I know fans can be a bit tribal and accuse politicians and others for showing favouritism when it's not really there, but this feller doesn't fall into that category.

Spurs got a public grant for their stadium...did we get anything from the local government?

We got a cattle pen, if that counts.
