2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

I’d keep him. We need 3 wide players next window. It’s dangerous having so many players come in during the summer like we will have.
It’s the potential fee involved. He’s no justified a big outlay to be honest. I like his effort and if he could add end product he’d be very good. He’d need to show more of that before the club shells out on him.

Lewis is at Norwich. Villa felt he wasn't ready, maybe never.

He probably won't, but still has more Everton goals and assists than Lindstrom, with about 20% of the minutes.

The difference between N'diaye and Lindstrom is stark, and N'diaye's fee is lower than Lindstrom's option.

He's done well to turn it around defensively, but that's his best contribution by far to date.

Not sure if his overall potential is good enough. I know we are in no place to attract top talent but we must improve on our dismal record of signing these past few years. If Bournemouth and Brighton can do it, so should we.

I don't think he's terrible and he is contributing to the uptick in performances from the team generally, but think we could improve on him fairly comfortably tbh. What was the option? £20m or something? Dunno, I'd be keeping my powder dry for now.

It depends on who is available. If you have better options you take those options. We are in a situation where we need players in general, so I would not mind adding him but we should be looking elsewhere first. Let him use the remaining games to justify his price tag.

We do need players but we have to get out of this habit of settling for second best all the time, buying players who would struggle to get a game at other PL clubs and its been going on here for years. At some point we have to put a proper recruitment plan in place with people who know the job and know how to look for players.

I look at Jesper and I see a water carrier than can get the attack going and play the defensive side of the ball. I do not see him as a waste of a signing at all as some of those we have signed in the past. You want him to improve in the final 3rd but if you have players like Beto, McNeil, Ndiaye and Charly firing you need squad players and just competent players in general to fit into the system. It's not like his price is THAT high.

The price is too high for what he is putting out imo, he isn't a wide player and he is nowhere near good enough to play through the middle in this league which is his preferred position, he hasn't scored or had an assist for over 2 years. Think it would be extremely poor if we end up spending more than we did on Ndiaye on him. In recent weeks we have been linked with the likes of Cherki, Henrique, and Juanlu Sanchez, all of whom are far more suited to that role, a player like Cherki is another level up on Ndiaye and would be a proper statement signing.

It might be worth approaching Napoli with a bid of around 10m. He's shown some improvement but he hasn't scored a goal since 2023 and the fee should reflect that. It's unlikely there will be a long queue of teams trying to sign him.
