They haven't literally said that, no. But the view is that this has been smooth running so far. I say there's signs in there that we've been hopeless on occasion (Villa, Bourenmouth, 2nd half today) and we've been hanging on in some games (Spurs) and hanging on and playing hardly any football (Brighton).

We've been impressive in the derby and against Leicester.

We're not Real Madrid. It's a limited group of players, albeit Moyes has let a few off the leash to show what they're capable of (i.e. Beto).

Only disappointment for me was Bournemouth because the cup is open this season with a lot of big guns already out, but we were excellent in the second half and should have forced extra time, we just had a bad first half. He'd been back for about 2 minutes when we played Villa so no time to really instill anything.

We were never going down this season because the promoted teams are too weak but if Dyche stayed then it would have been a more depressing end to Goodison. We're playing better football and getting better results.

We weren't 'excellent' second half against B'mouth. We hit the post three times but were still hopeless football-wise.

You're right when you say we weren't going down this season in any event. Which just underlines we've failed to hold our nerve (or TFG have) and put back the timetable to getting the new manager in by possibly 2 or 3 seasons if Moyes is retained.

Ok, safety is secured right now and it feels a lot better than just keeping 3/4 points ahead of it like Wolves are, but there''s a price to pay for this short term security: stunted development at the new stadium and an almost certain lack of investment as Moyes wont encourage it.

Really? He said we’d take a draw before match? strange thing to say

I’m not sure it’s that strange, Man U are still capable of decent results at times, in the same category as West Ham or Spurs. They are hardly Southampton or Leicester level.

Shows how far we have come really. We’ve gone from a 4-0 hammering to Man U in Dec to being annoyed at not thinking we’ll beat them nearly 3 months later. The team hasn’t changed that much, if Dyche were still here his fans would be praising a draw as almost as good as a win.

I'm still not convinced these Yanks haven't got a rabbit up their sleeve in the summer.

They have, basically, made zero impression to date. Their usual modus operandi is to make a big splash. I'm still suspicious that no official club source has spelled out the length of Moyes's contract. And even the manager's lack of rage at the robbery yesterday suggested he didn't see the point... I would have expected more of a man who was invested in all of this for the long-term. The same man raged on the pitch at the final whistle of a 3-3 draw with United in 2010, I think it was, when Jags was denied a last shot at goal.

I wouldn't begruge Moyes another year - but I do agree it sets back the reset because, with the best will in the world, he was never their original long-term choice and his own limitations will eventually force them into a change.

It's all very much in the air as I see it.

From the appointments made to backroom staff and the solitary loan player brought in it looks like a holding operation.

I wouldn't put it beyond Moyes to go along with a story that hels here for the next few years: it's the best way to keep players working and giving their all.

IMO Moyes is looking for a big final pay day and he'll be as open ended about this time at Everton hels spending as the owners will.

Once their targeted manager is in place I see them encouraging Moyes to leave. Moyes knows it wont get much better for him than this. He can get out of the club having resurrected his standing among most Everton supporters. Hanging on will get them on his back again.

He'll get cash + a legacy boost if he leaves in the summer.

Make your mind up, are we a “rank outfit” and a “midden of a team” like you said we were under Dyche to excuse his 28% win ratio, or are we not?

How does my saying we've been poor in games and hanging on in others contradict my view that they are rank by and large?

My obvious point is that all talk of Moyes coming back in and transforming us is bogus, because the players wont allow for transformation.

*sigh*
