We probably played better in the Tottenham, Leicester, Brighton and Liverpool games when Doucoure started than we did last week. We were lucky we didn’t concede 3 or 4 goals last week.

He's probably put Doucoure back in because they have a poor midfield that can be overran. Win the midfield battle and you win the game.

Doubt we will have Doucoure to thank for greater possession, even if that wins us the game.

I much prefer Alcaraz stylistically, but Douc's energy whilst the game is tight is the better fit of the two imo.

Still have visions of him coming on against Bournemouth trying to defend a 2-0 lead, so I'd be reluctant to give him any game management responsibility.

I hate this fixture because it is the fixture that most accentuates our massive inferiority complex.

With Liverpool, the very fact that it is a blood feud, a derby, means we gather ourselves - no matter how bad we are and how good they are - and we throw what we have at it with fury. It doesn't always work, but given the usual disparity in quality between the two, we get better results that we are entitled to.

But all of those primal feelings disappear with United and we simply genuflect far too often for my comfort.

Even though they are now officially Ralph Milne/Billy Garton/Clayton Blackmore rubbish, we find a way to implode.

I expect nothing different today.

I was used to the 80s and expecting and demanding we thrash the likes of United. Anyone genuflecting at United these days should be removed from the club. There’s no excuse to implode today and today will be a superb test of this team’s psychology and determination. Are we the same old weak team or have things actually changed.
