The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Your manager couldn’t even beat that Leicester side and also lost to Southampton.

We were definitely going down.

No we weren’t. You’ve tried to cry it in for years. It didn’t happen then, it wasn’t happening this season. We’d probably be sat about 5 or 6 points above the relegation zone now if Dyche had stayed and we’d end up double figures away from it.

Leicester have lost 10 in 11, not scored a home goal in 6 games whilst losing all of them. Ipswich are on 17 points now (the total Dyche left us on) and have put on the total of 2 points since Dyche left.

Every predictive model you have involves an imaginary world where we lose neatly every game under Dyche and Ipswich and Leicester find form that has eluded them for 2/3 of a season. Could have happened, extremely unlikely to. Most probable was we continued at somewhere near a point per game and ended up safe easily.

What's with the Dyche love in here? Sure he did well last season at times but I always felt he was dumbing us down and over praising the opposition no matter who it was. The reality is the general standard of the premier league and football in general has decreased massively so a good manager with a positive mindset can make a massive difference now and close the gap easier than before (Iraola being the prime example)

We can actually work this out in a few months time. Under Dyche this season we averaged 0.89ppg so end of the season that gives you, rounded up, 34.

We’ll see if that would have been enough.

Whether he would have taken us down or not, I know two things for sure.

1. We would have been a lot closer to it than now being 13pts clear
2. We wouldn’t have had the pleasure of watching davek et al’s heads fall off as their snot smearing hero was shown to have been massively underperforming.

I suspect 34 points would keep us up just because of how awful the bottom 4 teams are, but if it turns out come May 34 would have relegated us, be interesting to see who still defends him then.

If you really want to know why Leicester are going down with a whimper for the second time in three years and we have miraculously survived despite having piss poor players and terrible managers for years then look no futher then the last day of 22-23. It sums up the difference in our support, the old lady might have come close to losing her voice in recent years due to the fans feeling constantly ground down, but on occasions like that there's no ground in the country more intimidating. We dragged that team over the line and got them fighting. Meanwhile Leicester spent their game with their clappers and politely applauding. There was no big deal at full time for them, just a shrugging of the shoulders. Zero passion. They're doing rhe same now. People witter on about how toxic Goodison can be at times but if it wasn't "toxic" we'd still have Moshiri for an owner and be looking at administration and selling our new home to become tennants before we even moved in! Passion and toxicity can sometimes go hand in hand.

Nobody can imo, its poor recruitment that has cost them hence why the target of the fan protests is Rudkin the DoF who has been at the club for a fair while now.

If they stopped conceding theyd have a punchers chance i think mate, but they've a poor defense.

Don't know how Coady doesn't make that team.

They looked a team and a club resigned to me last night though.

Think they probably are already preparing and planning for the Championship.

After WHU next week dont see them potentially winning a game until late April - even then.

Wout Faes at CB gets you relegated, no matter who is the manager.

He must be one of those great lads in the changing rooms who leaves it all out there in training because he does nothing in a match other than assisting the opposition.

I'd imagine Dyche has blocked the Leicester chairman. Enjoy the break, do a bit of punditry and wait for Burnley or Leeds to come calling in December
