Sandhills station

Removing shelters is a retrograde step. This station caters for all sorts of people outside of matchdays.
Sticking a fence down the middle also adds to the danger and creates inflexibility.
The station really needs 2 extra platforms (1 minimum) to separate north/south traffic.
I agree completely... However we need a practical short term fix that'll work for the thousands that will use the station in the mean time.

The narrow platforms can be mitigated by close control of who is leaving the queue... Ie they know what the next train is and therefore they release that many people at a time.

My idea is very far from perfect but I think it's a sensible fudge until the council/network rail get their act together

The invisible Mayor is totally out of his depth. Only got the job because of the colour of his rosette.

He claims he was a brick layer originally, I'm sure there's brick layers who could do this job but he is not one of them.

Bet he can't believe his luck, just turn up for photos every now and then for things he's had nothing to do with or completed messed up (new trains).

Get off at Moorfields, it's a 25 minute walk from there.

You might as well go to the next station (Sandhills) if you're already on the Northern line. Not too time consuming to change to the Northern line if you're on the Wirral line.

The journey for fans on a matchday from Sandhills could be a good experience in years to come but right now it's mostly derelict isn't it? There's a paucity of anything to savour in this direction. If someone comes from town on to the dock road there'll be more going on for sure.

This is the problem for the new stadium is it's a derelict part of town while we're going to be a huge catalyst for development it takes time. The real football starts at BM in 6 just months.

Remember going to City when they first moved. There was nothing there at all.

You'd think there'll be more frequent trains for the couple of hours pre and post-game on match days. I was quite lucky getting home on Monday, the Southport line had an 8 car service.

Is right. Also not a good situation for us on the blue side having to rely on Kopites. We would never do such a thing would we? 🤔

Exactly the point. As an OAP who lives 20 miles away in a town with no rail station, I have no practical option but to drive.

The massive no parking zone is a hammer blow, meaning a 40 minute walk for me. God help me if I ever get a zimmer.
I understand the no parking zones, but I wonder if they're in place with a view to creating actual parking within that area, a couple of new multi stories or such; some of the major artery roads may still be gridlocked like but it would definitely eade some of the logistical congestion.

The club could get onto this, especially as the club will know what contracts are on the table for concerts in the summer months. A club owned safe parking facility would earn year round and provide a further financial draw into the area. Get onto this provision before the possible sites in the area become more expensive.
When Taylor Swift, or whoever rolls into town, the market is there for this solution.

Will there be a hotel nearby? Will there be a club shop? Will there be an Everton museum? Will the stadium cater for rugby or NFL games?

BMD has to work more than just 19 home games and a few cup nights a year. Need a bit of vision.

Do we reckon they'll open up the Old Hall Street entrance for Moorfields on Matchdays. I know it's not far, but that few minutes saving if it's pouring down would be greatly appreciated.
Exactly what I said last night . Doesn't save any distance to the platforms but it at least keeps you dry.

The madness will be that after the match, a lot of fans will go to Moorfields just to go past Sandhills, to save all the waiting around and to guarantee a seat.

the only thing i can think of as a solution is maybe to have a specific timetable around the football game times where they can put on more trains. At the moment on a Monday to Saturday the trains schedule are every 15 minutes and on a Sunday every 30 minutes. They recently got brand new trains in the last year or so. All the old trains are in storage somewhere. they should therefore have enough trains to be able to do an express service where the trains are every 5 minutes when there's a game on unless they have sold the old trains or scrapped them.

It's exactly what the Echo Arena did, built in conjunction with a giant multi story right next door to it. Some of the big concerts used to be absolutely chocker on the road afterwards but an hour or so later it'd be quiet.
