The atmosphere

Is there really that much demand for standing at the new ground? I don't think the safe standing seats were quick to sell out to STH's and when you look around at Goodison it's definitely an ageing support, often it's a sea of grey heads. Maybe we're all looking forward to resting our tired legs and booing in comfort.

I get that standing is more conducive for atmosphere, but if you want standing on the upper, then as it currently is, you would need to reduce the rake of the stands.

Put safety barriers in by all means, but if that encouraged standing, then they would have to actively discourage standing, with a number of options, to maintain a safety certificate.

I guess the question is, when asked what you wanted, was your answer a full standing stadium, or a stadium that replicated the feeling of being close to the action with steep stands. You can't have one without compromising on the other, unfortunately.

I'm not sure choosing to compromise one over the other can be labelled a disgrace tbh, it's just a difference in approach.

i mean they do an announcement every game at goodison sayin that persistent standing will be punished because i guess they have to o the prem will throw the book at them, but if a whole stand is standing there's nothing you can do

Where will the Park End Dars’ be relocated too?

The acoustics need to be perfect to enhance the booing

You mentioned there and on your previous post about the rake being a reason for not having rail seats. I know that safe standing has a 25 degree limit but rail seats do not have a gradient limit. Or is there something different to that's preventing it?

Re choosing steepnees and appearing closer, versus standing, then if people want the former then go in the sides, but actually having the stands overhanging would make them closer. Plus it's reduced legroom that brings you closer, steepness with generous legroom is further away. You do need a balance of course for views.

Behind the goal you need noise creation, so standing, anything but is wrong

Rail seats are a system that allows standing, in standing areas. There is little reason to use them if you can't stand. What you are seemingly asking for, with safety in mind, is a safety barrier, not rail seats. Its semantics, but if the club were to install rail seats, who's purpose and design is to facilitate spectators standing, in an area where standing is not permitted by regulations, the safety certificate would not be issued.

The south stand is steeper than the sides, so going to the sides if you want steepness is not the answer.

The question is, would you alter the design of the stadium to make the south stand less steep l, so that you can get more standing capacity, when the standing capacity is, by early results, not the most in demand area.

Yes demographics play a part in the purchase patterns, but the fact remains, there was not a massive rush to buy them, but there was for other sections.

I would definitely reduce steepness. I've never got the argument for them. Or rather the argument for excessively steep stands. Concourses have a gradient of zero, Lower Gwladys St is what 14 degrees. Of course it's also comfort and c values, so I accept you need some steepness.

They'd be better letting fans unofficially stand like now, but in the correct place, have the rail seats in there, than having official rail seats in the wrong place.

Also, I haven't seen anything that says it would be against regulations to have have the standing up there? I'm not saying there isn't regulations. What is the degree limit? I'm taliking 1 to 1 ratio standing against rail seats. I'm only aware of limitations on terraced style standing or on ratios greater than 1 to 1.

So they haven't designed it to allow the option for rail seats in the back rows then? That is ridiculous. Even Tottenham added rail seats to the back of theirs.
The priory was atmosphere as requested by fans. A Blue Wall, you need the whole Stand stood as often as possible to get that, and the best way for that is standing at the back not the front.
There's nothing imposing about half a stand with fans sat down.
Also safety, it's steep up there.
They designed it based on feedback of how many wanted to stand throughout and now they have a designated section. If someone is standing up in front of me all game in the upper tier they can GTF.

It’s gonna be loud, very loud.

You could hear shouts bouncing back down off the roof, sounded like there was more than 10k of us.

It’s also steep, but I’m in the top Balc and it didn’t feel much different to me.

Also, the seats annd leg room are very spacious, and I’m a fat lad.

It was nice not to be practically sat on the knee of the person next to me, and to not have me knees up by my earholes from the row in front.

The railed seating area is a pain if you want to get past someone in a row. Far too narrow imo (and I'm not one of those big belly fellers) and pretty sure that couldn't be converted to safe standing too much beyond current numbers.

Additionally, at the end, we went up to see if we could see our new season ticket seats in the west, but they were taped off and had stewards there. It wraps right round, so not a problem getting there, but not last night.
This was a view from the the very border of south and west, row 45.
