Sandhills station

Getting there isn't the issue mate, multiple trains dropping fans off at the ground at different times. Now let's say 30,00 fans all want to use that station to get home at the same time. That's where the problem lies.

Yeah, it’ll probably be a pain like.

Just saying last night it didn’t seem an issue, they put a load of barriers and staff in place to help guide people out, should imagine they’ll do the same on match days.

There’s buses going from Bootle Strand direct to the stadium, which is another option. Will be cheaper to park in the strand car park as opposed to car parks near the stadium as well I would imagine.

It'll need a garrison of shock-police on some match days. Because the aways that turn up mob handed will need minding. Funnelling 90% of 52k people through one small train station is (having said that out loud) stupefying dangerous.
I can vouch for this.
Went to the Nou Camp a few years ago to watch a night match. 50k trying to get through a small tube station , to get back to central Barcelona. Literally shoulder to shoulder, with more people pushing from behind. Not safe in the slightest.

Unfortunately merseyrail is the worst rail network in the county and will collapse under any extra demand.

Rotherham has his head in the sand. He’s caused this with rushing through the new trains when they weren’t ready and the implementation of head bolt lane has been a disaster and trains are constantly delayed or cancelled.
I guess you don't use Northern Rail because they're atrocious, Mersey rail is much better, probably doesn't have anywhere near the amount of cancellations that Northern have, they even struggle for staff(train drivers) a lot of times.

Not even close to “constantly being cancelled”.

Easiest way for them in the interim will be to lift the ridiculous parking restrictions on a match day.

For me the transport issue was the only negative last night.

They have a chance to turn it around and drop that stupid parking restriction all year round which will strangle good businesses in the area.
The restrictions are draconian and illogical anyway, regardless of the new ground, they make zero sense for the businesses who were already there, and no economic sense for the area that will be under massive redevelopment. Rotherham needs sacking tbh.

There is no way after last night that the restrictions can stand, particularly as there are no suitable pubic transport options available for the foreseeable. Add thousands more Evertonians and a few thousand away supporters into the mix and it’s a recipe for disaster.

I was planning on using the soccerbus from commutation row after parking the car in lime street, but I ended up late, so parked and jumped into a taxi. Cost me a tenner to get to regent Road and jump out near the Costco, due to the road closures, so had to walk most of the way. Ridiculous - the taxi driver was going mad as well to be fair to him.

Leaving the ground, I had an idea that Sandhills would be a mess, so I made the kids walk ball along regent road back to town. Took me a little longer than if I was on my own, but it wasn’t too bad tbh, bit nippy weather wise and the kids moaning didn’t help! 🤣

Nothing but positive things to say about our new home, it’s a magnificent football ground, we were awe struck, and the concourses and food were great.

It’s World class.

The transport and draconian road closures are the only issue and need addressing quickly, hopefully the feedback from the test event will drive the changes needed.

The Headbolt line didn't work for 6 months despite advising 6 weeks of delays and is subject to cancellations every single day - couldn't tell you the last time I wasn't delayed on it, and I use it very regularly

The Wirral and Chester line is constantly down atm

Add onto that, the fact that the dock road in the Winter is possibly one of the coldest and windiest places in the whole city and ten times worse when it`s raining.

It`s not a particularly pleasant walk at the best of times.
Knock it down, start again somewhere warmer, I hear the Greek islands are lovely this time of year.

That’s not what I said is it.

I said constantly delayed or cancelled.

I use the Kirkby line four days a week and every single train I get is either delayed or cancelled.

Speak to anyone who uses that line and they’ll tell you the same.

I think if it comes to it, Friedkins will have to step in

I use to get the train to work everyday from Fazakerley. It has resulted in me now driving to work everyday.
