2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

He was less frustrating than normal yesterday.... still wasteful a few times but also some very good deliveries into the box on occasion too - probably his best game for a while but he really does need a game or two where things that do not quite come off for him suddenly do. Then he might just get that little bump in confidence to start delivering

When the oppo attacks he’s in the right back slot, when we attack he’s trying to get in the good areas a winger likes to get in.

The left side doesn’t have to track back the same because Myko stays at LB, but on the right Jake OB slots to RCB and he goes to RB. This is a factor many overlook in comparing Lindstrom with other players, and why the left side creates more.

He also has the most shots on target and chances created for a player without a goal or an assist - it’ll come, Moyes clearly likes him… since he’s been playing regularly we’ve become the form team in the league. He’s obviously not the predominant factor (Beto’s form is imo) but he is a contributor.

He’s another one where we end up talking about him as if he’s a competition winner or some kid we’ve picked up from Prescot cables. He’s an international footballer with loads of top level experience, of course he will have good moments and do good things. The question isn’t whether he’s completely out of his depth at this level, we know he isn’t. It’s just whether he can do enough while here to make signing him a good idea. At the moment I’d say he hasn’t but another dozen or so games is plenty of time for that to change.

Missing end product at the moment, possibly because he's trying to hard and that's probably a consequence of him wanting to succeed here so badly.

He clearly loves playing for us and we don't have another right sided player who can get up and down that flank as much as he does. He's been a vital part of the system Moyes has deployed, I think he's nailed down that starting spot for the rest of the season.

This is astute and a fair calculation. There is clearly a footballer there. I think his workrate has really improved as the seasons progressed along with delivery. He's feeding more dangerous balls, exploiting the byline and or scheming overlaps. But that's what competent wingers do. I think Moyes has helped tremendously and Kevin was astute in the loan. If its enough for the permanent? however much I do like him at present probably not. Ultimately no goals and assist in a league campaign 20 games in is what it is regardless of caveats. Maybe if he was a hair younger but 25 come summer, precedent suggests the growth plate is shorter than one would think.

That said i've enjoyed his play of late and do think he may be showing signs in turning a corner. It shall be an interesting choice come June.

But thats the thing, hes not and has never been a winger. Hes just getting shoehorned into that role because we A. Have no one else. Hes never had success as a winger, and always been good through the middle. I think his defensive workrate has been great, but you can see his strengths are NOT taking on a player or crossing, but instead using his speed in the open field and finding passes.

In the end I dont think he fits us and dont think he will stay, simply because of that. He needs to go to a team that needs him in his natural position, and we need actual wingers in the summer.

Pretty sure I'd not bring him back. He's not exactly young anymore. This for me was the chance to show he's ready to make a fairly consistent impact and he's not done that. Other players are out there with greater upside.

He's definitely playing much better in the last month, but he just doesn't look natural in front of goal. We need our attackers to carry goal threat and he's yet to show any. We still have a few more months to decide but as of right now, I don't think he's worth close to 20m.
