2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Call it how I see it. Dyche saved us from Lampard.

If I’d of come on here the night we beat palace 3-2 and said Lampard should’ve been sacked, I’d of been ridiculed, if that’s of happened then their would’ve been no need for Dyche.

In much the same way that if we’d of sacked Martinez Xmas 2014/15 after he lost 4 on the bounce we wouldn’t be where we are now.

Indeed. When we're winning titles (or a league cup) at Bramley Moore, most fans will credit Dyche for keeping head above water in a torrid time. Needed moving on but did the job we desperately needed at the time.

It’s the way he successfully gaslit so many of our fans for me. Had people thinking we were lucky to have him keeping us barely above the relegation zone, he had the hardest job in the world, the players couldn’t do anything other than camp on the edge of the box and hope to win a corner. A simply remarkable mass brainwashing exercise, I can’t believe so many of our fans fell for it. I think in general we have a very knowledgeable fanbase, so I’m astonished that so many fell into his trap.
Spot on, the same squad is showing what you can do with some positive tactics instead of the cowardly way he was setting us up, I absolutely despised him being our manager

Reminds me a bit of trump and USA tbh

The same way we would credit Lampard for keeping us up the year before?? Both would have taken us down if left in place the following year. Hero to absolutely zero!

Mate moyes gaslit us for years about being a small club.

Not for me, no mate. We got worse under Lampard. He tookover with us above the drop an took us closer to it. He left with us 19th and our lowest ever points total going into Feb. I'm sure I read nobody ever stayed up with that points total from then on.

Lampard is the only time I felt we were done for, so I don't thank him for anything. I don't blame him, though.

I thank Dyche for keeping us up when I thought we were gone. And for doing a very good job last season. He needed to go this season, but wasn't ever happening until new owners were in.

Why wouldnt you be thankful to Lampard for keeping us up? I’ll never forget that Palace game.

It was horrible next season, but that doesnt change a lot.

I agree that Dyche kept us up in an absolutely horrible year, the points deductions felt like everyone was out for us and he steered us through that.

However, I can honestly say I have never in 30 years of going the game dreaded going the match like I did under Dyche this year. The gaslighting of the fans, the dumbing down of expectations and the total capitulation at the end and welcoming the sack for me means whatever good he did was far outweighed by the bad.

We are all of course entitled to our opinions and I see your point, but I’m glad to see the back of him.
