2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

You have repeatedly said this team/squad is relegation fodder.

I have.

Thanks for noticing.

For about 4/5 years now.

Every summer.

Under Lampard. And Dyche.

And it played out that way.

Was it Benitez, Lampard and Dyche.

Or the players.

Or both?

My long term, repetitive view is we don't have the goals in the team to provide a baseline of goals to take us midtable and above.

But now with Moyes we can reach 12th? Btw with this squad we can reach higher than 12th IMO, would need a little luck but i would say about 10th is this squad maximized

Search my posts for 12th-17th - I've said that for years.

We earned enough points to finish 12th last season.

This team, at best without injuries....12th. At worst, 17th

That's not relegation fodder.

It is.

Everton have averaged 41 points for 3 seasons.

Take pride out of it, this team has been relegation fodder.

This team has been minutes from relegation. Twice.

Any team thats been in successive relegation fights, is in one until it definitely isn't.

I think its there for all to see that it was the manager that was relegation fodder not the squad.

This is why Dyche gets no praise from me because a thousand managers could of done what he done over the last 2 years, if he done the unexpected then yes he gets a pat on the back. This is Everton FC he managed not Burnley or Norwich so keeping us in the league is not and never will be an achievement.

You, like I, thought we'd go down before he come in.

He kept us in relegation battles by his shambolic playing style.

We were circling the drain and in our worst ever position before him.

Moshiri, Kenwright and co put us in relegation contention.

I put this down to employing 3 consecutive woeful managers.

I get it that it was hard to see past the players and its all their fault because it was happening for so long.

Anyway at least now for the first time in a long time we can get behind a manager and actually enjoy watching us again.

You’ve been quiet today. Still crying about last night’s result? Kopite.

As said: heads fallen off.

You've disgraced yourself on this thread. Just say sorry and move on.

The whole forum's watching your unhinged tirades and laughing.

Some of the opinions here about Dyche are almost identical to those expressed about Moyes himself in the 1st season after he'd gone. "I told you it was the manager who held us back". Many recanted in the following seasons.
If Moyes isn't given substantial backing to add much needed quality to this squad some of those hailing him now will be calling for his head in a year.

The position the club is in now is where i think we should have been in before the season started. Wouldnt say relegation fodder but would be in a position we would have to look at teams under us. The squad is poor just not alot of goals across the team in every position id like see more goals from the defence midfield and cf postion. You just have to look at other teams subs during games and bench to see how far behind we have become. Also this is not am excuse for dyche performance this season should have done better

Without any doubt whatsoever.

If we didn't spend a penny this summer, I'd again expect 12th-17th next season. Lower end if Branthwaite/Ndiaye wasn't available. Higher end if they are.

Fortunately, the last few years of misery should pay dividends and we can build this summer to get us on the road to where we should be.

I also stated we'd get a decent new manager bounce, and why.

Again, this team is 12th-17th. With Moyes. With Ancelotti. With whoever you like. Shouldn't be an opinion that's too hard to grasp.

If we didn't spend this summer, again, you think this team does any better than that?
It's not impossible that we go on a dreadful run and one of the current bottom three pull a mini-run out of the bag and we go down.

Unlikely, but not impossible.

What happens then? Will Dyche's start to the season get the blame? Or do people get angry with Moyes? Accuse those of backing him of being 'Moyesettes' and claim Dyche would have seen us over the line?

Both i would expect moyes with this gap now to keep us away. Before if we had the injuries mcneil nidiaye dcl would have said a tough job to keep us away from it, if we did have the gap when he first came.
