It’s not a coaching thing at all, he’s just clearly not suited to this level of football.

He was flipping burgers 7 years ago playing in the amateur leagues in Portugal, it’s a meteoric rise to be fair. But his understanding of the pace of the game is nowhere near this level. Even if he’s a big lad and he’s quick his mind won’t ever be at that level.

C'mon you can coach people to press and certainly improve them. He's definitely raw and that's mainly down to his coming to this level late in his career. He's just not played a lot of football at this level. Is he the answer to Everton's striking situation in the long run? I don't think so. Is he as bad as people are making out, I don't think he is. He'll score goals if you give him the right service, probably somewhere around 1 in 3.
Moyes never got the “you can’t coach players to improve memo”.

I actually mean it when I say this, but I have never seen DCL make such an intelligent run as he made for the first goal. Bending his run to say onside, intelligence to anticipate the quick free kick. In order to get the hallowed “service” you crave, you must first make yourself an option for your team mates to service. People wonder why DCL rarely gets any opportunities from clean through, or never seems to score at the near post etc. and the default setting is to blame all of his team mates rather than looking at what he doesn’t do himself.
Also, he 100% would have ballooned his shot. Probably hit it straight into Allison.

It was a good , composed finish for the goal, similar to his second v Leicester

Better game last night technically not realy going to inprove but put himself about. Can learn to use his body better to use his strength but his hold up general play was alot better. Also by far a more natural finisher than dcl is getting him in them positions

And, like Haaland, he's not going to be easily 'bounced' off the ball like DCL is/was countless times every game. He's the kind of striker that defenders hate nowadays. They much prefer the 'tippy-tappy' type, who they can bully all around the pitch. Not gonna happen with Beto...

Its like he is a striker.

Far too many seasons people seem content with having Evertons number 9 be a crap finisher they applaud him for being a defensive midfielder as a forward.

I get its not pleasant dunking on another forward to highlight this one. But it has to be said.

Just some nonsense being chatted now, whatever DCL is or isn't, he is always physical with the CBs and he looked to be benefiting from Moyes arrival just as much as Beto until injured.

A strikers job is to score goals first and foremost.
Beto now given the chance is doing that.

If he can hold the ball up also then great, i dont care about holding the ball up, goals are all that matter.
