If you have already made a wedge from football and can probably pick up a wage elsewhere, while at the same time these kind of things are damaging your reputation just like Brands has done, then yes.

But that's never happened here over the course of 3 DoF's, its just been an utter pigs ear of a bit of this and a bit of that. Also when you are lining up someone like Guirassy and you end up with Maupay, the majority of DoF's (I would imagine) are going to be pretty fuming with those above. It's just amazing how its a role that seems to work everywhere else except here and people wonder why, maybe just let that person do their actual job.

By the same logic, players who aren't getting a game should agree to rip up their contracts and any wages they're entitled to, so they can go and sign elsewhere

Three DoFs, one commonality. I think the blame or expectation you're putting on Thelwell is misplaced.

We get it, you hate Thelwell. No need to tell it again and again. Even if he signed the next Messi you would still complain that he is doing a bad job.

If he signed the next Messi it would probably be three games too late into a season that has already started.

If you are ok with Demari Gray and Michael Keane being make shift strikers then that is up to you.

Since when can he pick up 2m a year elsewhere? This isnt Don Carlo coming in with a CV who can demand his way, he was working at NYRB. Its beyond absurd to say if a guy gets to choose 3 of the 4 signings on a job he was ALREADY sold as a really difficult one, hes going to cut and leave because things happen exactly as he was told when he signed up for it.

And what damage to Brands rep? He got the exact same job back that he had before. Throwing a public fit IS a damage to your rep, and its pretty easy to tell people in a job interview "They overruled me on these signings, I wasnt allowed to do my job". Any employer loves to know an employee will keep things in house.

Almost seems to be proof then you are irrational about it. Most see a pattern of everyone behaving the same way and think "that must be the rational way to act", you see it and have a fit over it. You find examples of DOFs who have left their position because they got overruled on one 10m signing and you can have a point. You wont though, will you?

Yes, good chance this is the highest paying gig he's ever had. Expecting him to walk away because he didn't want to sign Neal Maupay seems a bit much.
