Yes you're right, forgot the 2010 one, I stand corrected.

Yeah it's clearly better than what we've done since. I just meant, I doubt the reds are that worried by what he said. They still had the better over us during that period. How many times did we finish above them in that period? I can only remember 04/05 and 11/12. I've probably forgotten some other times

Finished ahead of them 3 times I believe, 04/05 and in both of his final seasons (which caused quite the meltdown from some echo journalists at the time). Considering he had a worse squad in nearly all of his 12 seasons than them to fishing ahead of them in a quarter of them wasn’t a bad showing.

I await the day though we have reset the relationship. I don’t want some plucky underdog win every five years or a great record not getting beat at home. I want us to be in a position where Everton mangers are coming into derbies year after year with the better team. Watch the record change then. It only happens through massive investment over the long term though.

No, his ambitions were a stand alone issue surrounding what he sees as our future targets.

You know what, I really could not care less about what a manager or player says in a pre match press conference and only very rarely in an impromptu interview.

It really does not matter, it is what Moyes says to the players, behind closed doors, that matters. It is how the players perform on a football pitch that matters.

I have seen more ambition in the last 4/5 games than in the rest of the season combined. That, for me, is the only thing that matters.

Mentions hard yards to finish 17th and wipes snot on his forehead and we might see citrus jizz all over the place.

Wanting to finish above liverpool again... PATHETIC
Go away and find their  LOWEST league position since they got promoted

Don't bother, I'll tell you 8th (X 3)

get real

either that or we deffo need a dedicated Sarcasm font

Yeh narrowing the gap from 16th to 1st is modest ambition. We should be aiming for the quad.

You’ve officially ran out of content, kopite.

You thought Moyes's words about narrowing the gap meant becoming champions. Lol. You need your head feeling.

You have zero feeling for football - that's what I've gleaned from your posts over time.

Its the part where he said finish above the team in first place.

Its a shame people are arguing your ommision statement.

If any other of our 20 managers since Moyes said he would love to get everton finishing near Liverpool and to be on thierr coattails we would laugh them out of the presser for being delusional. David Squire's wouldn't know how to parody it.

Moyes has the clout to actual say finish above them. And no one is laughing at him.

That for lack of a better word is boss.

Please explain what he meant by narrowing the gap between 16th and 1st.

“Feel for football” - are you like legit Sean Dyche? Kopite.

The next press conference is the key for me, if he does not improve on facial poses then he is not the man to lead us into next seasons press conference league.
He needs to spend some transfer funds on tasteful knitwear, perhaps some younger, more tasteful cardigans. Some intense work on the training ground on inflection and elocution could also be key.

It might be a good idea to do some serious scouting for now and then spend big in the summer to get the best value in the clothing market. Just going out and spending with no preparation can result in costly sartorial mistakes.

I'm sure he can get some tips from DCL

Seem to remember Klopp saying similar about the gap to City needing to be narrowed in his early days over the park.
Moyes got pelters when he said Man Utd aspire to be at the level of Man City. But it turned out he was right. Moronic Man Utd fans were living in mass delusion when any objective measure of the squads was pretty stark.

It’s good to have the competitive spirit and honesty to want to be as good, and then better than, your rivals. Being arrogant and saying it should not be said is lazy and complacent.

It’s defeatist to say we cannot reach Liverpool’s level and also stupid to not see how much of a challenge it will be. But it is certainly achievable over time.
