2024/25 David Moyes

The owners gave Moyes a 2.5 year deal, they’re not giving him that with a plan to get rid of him at the end of the season unless they’re clueless.
They haven’t actually publicly confirmed the length of his deal. We had this discussion a month ago and we were all surprised the contract duration was not mentioned by the club.

They haven’t exactly backed Moyes in January either…

The idiot who kept this club afloat in its most tumultuous period as the absent board sold his best players every season. That ‘idiot’?. Classless.

You’ve proved the point of my post, utterly obsessed with the identity of the manager rather than the bigger picture. Koeman, Silva, Ancelotti, Benitez, Lampard, Dyche, Moyes the name is irrelevant, if the club continues operating at board room level the same way it has down for the last 30 years (with one or two exceptions) then the results will be the same in the bigger picture regardless of manager. Some are literally so obsessed with binary arguments over previous managers that they’ll ignore all this to have a shot at Dyche. I doubt he cares about the club anymore so maybe just let him go for your own good.
So it was only dyche who kept us up? Cant say i've ever seen you defend DCL or doucs who scored us goals to get valueable points that kept us up? You can look at it two ways with dyche either he kept us up or he turned us into the hybrid "everburnley" who like his previous team was in relegation fights most season... sound familiar?

Yeah Dyche’s comments in an interview are the reason the club hasn’t been successful since 1995. Let’s focus on them some more and keep bringing them up. What an idiot. Just like Lampard Benitez Ancelotti Silva Allardyce Koeman Martinez Moyes Smith..

Actually i apologise. I didnt mean to call him an idiot. I meant to call him an arrogant idiot.
Back on topic though as you're waffling away from it. No Everton fans expected the team to win every game under moyes. You made that up.
Just enough to get us away from the drop zone your mate left us in.

Yes, I'm surprised at the number of people who repeat the 2 1/2 year contract length without any supporting firm evidence for it. Moyes himself in press conferences talks as though he has until the end of this seeason and maybe more if he impresses.

All his staff are on short term contracts to be reviewed in the summer. It wouldn't surprise me if Moyes moved upstairs as new DoF (we are not hearing much about new contracts or even possible replacements) and a younger individual (hopefully someone like Carsley, my worry would be it being someone like Baines) underneath as a more coach type.

2.5 years has been widely reported so unless they’re making it up from nowhere, I’d assume that’s the length of the contract:

It would have affected PSR if we bought anyone in January and with the 3 wins, I don’t think there was an urgent need to buy players who would just make up the numbers for the sake of it.

I didn’t really want Moyes but I’m not sure any manager could be doing a better job with this squad than what he’s done so far.

Are you a child?

I didn’t even say fans expected Moyes to win every game, so perhaps you’ve made that up.

But already after just a couple of losses in 5 games, there’s some people on here talking about switching Moyes out in the summer. That’s ridiculous.

I don’t think a first time club manager would be what we need in a huge rebuild over the summer. Maybe when things are more stable.

Why wait? Any competent manager can do what you ask with decent backing: 12th and 10th. Evertonians need to stop being terrified of the future and using the mediocre past as a comfort blanket. Yesterday’s man has had his time.
Its not as simple as you'd like to think. A decades worth of gross mismanagement can't just be undone overnight. Nobody is terrified of the future, some of us just understand that Rome wasn't built in a day. Just because you'd like everything to be fixed overnight with "any competent manager" doesn't make it so. Some of us want stability, we don't want an idal daydream of things being magically ok like the last four years of solid relegation bettles and garbage teams never happened.

Sick of the negativity in this thread, and so called blues flying in straight after a defeat with the “I told you so” bollox.

Moyes wasn’t my first choice, but anyone with eyes can see the job he’s done already with these players, and the improvements made, regardless of the so called lack of quality in the squad.

Get behind him ffs - he will make mistakes but at least he’s trying to win games and talk the club up instead of down.

We were in a relegation battle literally the season before Dyche arrived. We fired Koeman and Silva because we were in the bottom 3. Dyche didn’t turn us into Burnley, Kenwright and Moshiri did that over 30 years. That’s what the Friedkins need to change, not rotating managers every 18 months to find one who can finish in Europe on a sell to profit transfer policy.

Wonder if Moyes sees this appointment as unfinished business and an opportunity to justify his reputation with Everton fans by winning something (next season 😕) or just a cushy number without too much pressure to see him closer to retirement.
Appreciate he has a job at hand with guaranteeing our status in this league in the short term, but I’m not really getting a feeling or hearing much about raised expectations from him just yet.

I’m admittedly not his biggest fan so maybe it’s just confirmation bias on my part atm 🤷🏻‍♂️

You stated the same players have not won every single game under the same manager...
You didnt have to. Nobody was expecting it. You thought you'd be smart and drop that in.
I dont care what others are saying. I said lets not complicate it.
If we get enough wins to stay up thats all that matters. Dyche had lost the plot.

It’s been widely reported by pretty much every news outlet as 2 1/2 years, journalists don’t tend to make these things up, they’ve clearly been briefed on the details.
