Im not so sure, 1000000% we are in the this league next season its not even in doubt.

I do think though he is still on probation and if we finish 15-16th they will seriously consider a change in the summer.
The way the club has heralded the appointment and the social media content around it strongly suggests that they intend this to be a long term thing.

Why do you watch football then if smacking someone 4-0 bores you? Genuine question

That's not what bores me. Altho I didn't see that game as I was playing footy that day. Was very happy to see us up 3-0 when I checked in but I'd like to be engaged in what the club is going to do going forward and appointing this blert doesn't do it for me. Just personal opinion, dislike him and didn't want to see him back at the club. Any argument you might give me for why you are happy with him, I probably wouldn't disagree but it's not for me. Happy for those who are buzzing again after dyche was sacked and actually want Moyes.

I hope I don't have to wait beyond summer to get back into it all, but I fear I'll be waiting longer

Not convinced mate, of course the club are going to PR stuff like that, they handed him a 2 half year contract, i bet they didnt want to give him that contract though, the rumours were he wouldn't of signed otherwise.

I believe there hand was forced.

moyes has got the team fighting again, got the crowd and fanbase up, giving us some proper football again and will give us an identity as a side and club again

but sure let’s bin him off and go for another manager in the summer whose had one decent spell at a small club with no expectations on it

genuinely cannot believe the negativity in this thread given the years of feeling completely adrift of connection with the club since Martinez’s reign fell apart.

Appointing him is just another act by the club that loosens my connection. I don't get why people think because they are happy with it, that everybody else has to be. It's not a great appointment for getting the fans all on board again, I don't know any fan personally that would say they are anything more than "accepting" of it. Not a one is happy with it

Who do people seriously think is both a better option and yet still realistic target to take over if Moyes goes in the summer? I mean, its not happening anyway but I'm curious all the same.

Everton or Bournemouth? Pfffft!
In our hearts and heads that is true.

In reality our history counts for very little to most of todays players/managers, especially foreign ones.

They are interested only in the here and now. And here and now we are losing out on players and managers to historically smaller and lesser teams because they look like a better choice.

I don’t think that changes in the summer just because we stay up. The team build will take longer than that.

We were left 1 point above the drop zone by the previous incumbent, a raft of injuries and not a pot to piss in to bring in players in January. And yet people think we were in any sort of position to bring in their fantasy hipster manager with a 10 year plan in mind. No words for that level of naivety to be honest.

This season is about pulling away from the relegation zone. Sadly we were left in that position by the former manager, just as we were in 2022/23.

Nah they don’t push it that way for everyone, they’ve made a big song and dance about him coming back it seems pretty clear that he see him as a club legend/hero and have really pushed that angle deliberately. If they just saw him as a safe pair of hands to the summer the comms would be different. Obviously football is a mad world and stuff changes quickly so it’s no guarantee of anything but I would put good money on them intending for him to see out at least this contract at this point.

Iraola would swim the Mersey to get into that new stadium as manager.

He was even talking about it yesterday.

He's been very complimentary about Everton in the past and I reckon he has half an eye on Everton. He's sending the signals.

Offer 100 players next season the chance to play for Everton or Bournemouth same salary/contract.

98% choose Everton.
History
New ground
Huge fanbase
Bigger potential

Its not even a debate really.

The other 2% might like the beaches in Bournemouth.

Lots of moving parts to this I imagine. The club still hasn’t appointed a new CEO, the future of DoF to be decided etc. Once that is all in place the club may have other ideas but for now it does seem they are behind Moyes.

I can understand some will never accept him and I was as annoyed as the next fan with all the Utd shenanigans but the last decade or so has made me long for the reassuring cardigan and mid table mediocrity.

Like any other manager he will be judged by results. Keep getting wins and then he stays. Simple as that I imagine.

Dont think any of us are right or wrong in this mate, i still see Moyes on probation, by the way he is doing a great job so far so i dont see him going as we speak but if it fades away over the next months then i think they will consider it.

I think we agree it's Dyches fault for Moyes being here. As I've said to you before he just needed to be a bit less crap until the summer and he couldn't do it. We also agree this season is only about staying up.

But I think everyone would agree that having money (hopefully) to completely refresh the squad and going into a new stadium is a great moment for all the fans to actually get excited again after years of this club sometimes seemingly willfully winding us up and just generally being atrocious in every way possible.

I just feel this guy being here as the manager for that, kills the joy a good bit for plenty of fans

A lot of our fans seem to be falling into the trap that we fell into in 2016 in wanting to run before we can walk though. We’re absolutely on our knees currently and the recovery process is going to take some time whether people like it or not. We need to firstly re establish ourselves as a competent mid table outfit before we can start to think about moving onwards and upwards towards a European place.

Moyes is the type of manager to offer genuine stability short term. People thought Dyche would offer that but surviving by the skin of your teeth in the last few weeks of the season every year is absolutely not stability. It’s actually incredibly unstable and volatile. Moyes is a manager with a track record of moving teams away from relegation battles. Sadly that is what we’re looking to try and do in the immediate future before we can think about anything else.

If someone offered me a solid bog standard 11th next season under Moyes without any worries of relegation, I’d snap your hand off for it right now. At that point I would then start to assess his potential successors.

At the moment a lot of their draw is Iraola. 100% he’ll probably be at Chelsea or something next season. They’re a really well run club but the ground they have is a limiting factor. It’s to difficult to grow your revenues without a massive ground to sell out and use for concerts and things. PSR means there’s a ceiling for well run teams like Bournemouth, Brighton maybe even Fulham although they at least have the London pull meaning an investor might come along for them. Villa have set a blueprint but even they are going to need to develop their stadium if they want to continually push. At some point they’ll miss out on Europe and the extra revenue it’s generating for them won’t be absorbed by their commercial and stadium incomes.

So long as we’re well run it might take a few years but we’ll catch all of those teams up with the sustained income the new ground will allow us to generate. Personally even when he was appointed I think Moyes is the right man for the job. I think he knows how to run and grow every aspect of the team. He’s done it before. We need to get back to a solid foundation to be able to push on, spend wisely, sell some talents along the way to reinvest a grow the club naturally back to where it should be. Quick fixes aren’t a thing in football anymore
