Something pretty strange over these 5 matches Moyes has had in charge.

We've been - possession wise:

50% against Villa
35% against Spurs
31% against Brighton
47% against Leicester
58% against Bournemouth

The outlier for me is Leicester where we had a lot of possession of the ball but ran out winners.

The other 4 results, for me, are much more predictable of the way we've rolled for a while now: when we have a low % possession of the ball we play to our strengths and hand ourselves more of a chance of success. The Spurs and Brighton wins were typical of that. But when we get sucked into owning the ball a lot more we get caught out by counters more often than not, which is what happened against Villa and Bournemouth today.

I mean, that's just level one understanding of this team that I think most would accept. WTF was Moyes trying to achieve by possessing the ball so much when we dont have the players to play that game?

I do hope this feller is looking at this and learning that lesson. It's a pretty basic lesson to learn and one I'd expect him to have known in any case.

It’s an improvement on Dyche who was having low possession whilst never winning.

I got to there and honestly couldnt stop laughing, im sure the rest was just as funny, but I will sadly never read it.

It's true though: we dont have the players to play possession football. Good managers like Emery and Iraola know that and hand us enough rope to hang ourselves with.

Your latest flash in the pan has had nearly 2 years to perfect his system with his players.

If in 2 years Moyes cant beat no marks like these at home, then I will be concerned.

Today was bad, I dont know if you watched it, but Tarks basically thought screw this and bailed us out the cup, its the managers job to get results and today, he failed.

But Rome wasnt built in a day.

Im sure you have heard that very fitting saying.

Id presume that 58% possession comes from trying to chase a 2 nill lead at home. Mostly padded by the last 30 minutes of the second half. Letting the oppo have the ball at 2 down with time running out is negligent. Unless its barcelona the Goodison crowd would cause a riot.

And we used the possession well enough hit the post 3 times. Cleared off the line.

Yes, I did watch it. I saw Tarkowski trying to make up ground on a counter attacking player running the length of his own half to do so because Moyes had them pushed right up the halfway line.

That was on the tactics the manager adopted. Same with the second Tarkowski howler when he tried to pass 15 yards while inside the box, what his manager wanted us to do in that circumstance. As I said earlier Tarkowski is no ball playing CB.

Dont blame him.

We got beat 2-0 mate and it could have been 6-3 in the end.

That was a tactical disaster.

Oh man... tarks drinking it from the box under no pressure into a bunch of retreating bournmouth player is on Moyes.

BRILLIANT
He wants them to play it out a bit more: he handed that task to players who cant do it so that's down to him.

If Moyes has learned anything in the last 5 games I hope it's this: against anything other than tripe teams these players need to be behind the ball keeping tight,.

If he does that against good teams we'll get our rewards.

There'll be plenty of other teams at home and away we can maybe get on the ball and enjoy more possession, but you DONT do it against proven quality attackers who can open you up.
