7 goals in the Premier League at age 20 coming over from Argentina seems very good for a Southampton team.

Edit: Just had a closer look but 4 goals in 18 games seems very decent.

Doucoure has a pass completion of about 2% and the only manager to ever drop him was Frank Lampard

I pray Doucoure never starts again but every manager seems to love him

….they don’t ’love him’, they see how valuable he is to the team and they see what our results are like when he doesn’t play. Was it 20 points gained from games he scored in last season (arguably our most difficult season on record) and never lost a game he’s scored in?

Despite being poor in possession, he’s made a huge contribution in maintaining our status, I remember when he got sent off in the incident with Harry Kane and then suffered injury and posters were wondering how we’d manage without him. He’s been handsomely rewarded here but he’s earned it and I will always be thankful for his contribution.

Well said, If Alcaraz can compare with the physicality and ability to drop in Doucoure has while adding more quality then fantastic, but lets not pretend Toffeeman1878 on GOT knows more than Ancelotti and Moyes.

I dont think anyone doesn't appreciate his contribution. He does clearly put a shift in each game and helps defensively a lot.

I think it's more just sheer confusion and exasperation at how a professional footballer can be so bad with the ball at his feet. It's abominable to an almost bewildering extent.

As mentioned before if he popped up with regular goals/assists then I'd be very happy for him to continue starting. The issue is that's disappeared in the last year or so. Hopefully Saturday was the start of a run.

….i think/hope it’ll be the start of a different approach. Doucoure gets alongside the no9 then in the next minute is getting in the way of the opposition on the edge of our box. I’d hope we now start to add more quality, think Alcaraz will carry the ball in possession which is something we’ve missed since Iwobi left.

If we can finally win games without Doucoure it’ll be a real sign of progression.
