….Doucoure has never been a conventional no10, it’s not just this season he’s been awful in possession but he’s done as much as anybody to keep us in this league. Did I read that we’ve never lost a game he’s scored in and we got 20 points from games when he scored last season?

I love his reaction when we score, he never shirks or hides, playing appears to matter to him but it’ll be good when we can win games without him.
Don't get me wrong Doucoure has been a good player for us, bytt he's lost his way this season, like a lot of the squad. Hopefully he'll get a few more goals now the manager has changed.

he will suddenly start scoring and looking good because his contracts coming to an end, like he did last time.

…with Harrison going on loan, I’d imagine the plan is to play this fella as a no10.

Despite the abuse, Doucoure has done terrific for us in that role during the ‘struggle years’ but we need to move on with a talented footballer in that position, not somebody who’s main attribute is working tirelessly for the team when the opposition has possession.

Hopefully we’re turning a corner.

I dont think the plan will be rigid mate. I dont think we will veer from the hybrid 10 role, so this lad will be expected to drop back to an 8.

In better news he looks to have a big engine, loads of running and can carry the ball forward with decent distribution and a shot on him.

We've lacked any real penetration and danger from that central channel for a long time.

Glad we are addressing an issue but i really am curious as to what this guy is doing to get shopped around like this.

Jan 2023 he signs for Southampton, on a deal running to summer 2027.

October 23 he gets a new contract, extending to 2028.

Now, just three months later he is shipped off to Juventus on loan.

The next summer, late august 24, he returns to Southampton and goes to Flamengo in what is their record transfer fee paid.

They are so thrilled with their record signing that they send him back to England after 5 months, and now he is with us.

Is someone using poor Charlys career to lander money or something?

Is it just me, or does he look rather talented?
He’s a serious talent. We need to realise that unless we can produce talents in our academy then the only way we can get them is if something has gone slightly wrong for them. Arteta, Pienaar, Lukaku even Lescott with his injury issues. Manny Fernandes was another one who had bounced around a bit at a young age and was a sublime talent also. It’s not as simple as some think

Welcome to modern day footy transfers my friend, of course it is.

Seems wherever he has gone he has been expendable to the team and valuable to the wallet.

Guess we'll find out during the loan, hopefully he can settle now.

the fee to pay has been €15million (£12million?) on most of the official reporting, why has that magically ballooned to £20million by some in here?

Anyway seems a decent bit of business going off his age, numbers and prem experience

Thats the kind of player that Moyes likes to bring in. A player thats lost their way after a big transfer. Fingers crossed he can bed into the squad and plant some roots.
