Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Moyes' managerial magic has given us significant breathing space and rendered transfer moves less critical.

We all know that we need players in all positions ( except perhaps centre back ) but that isn't going to happen today.

We know that we are bringing in Alcaraz an attacking midfielder.

Being realistic what other positions do we think are the priority areas and how many do you think we will bring in today?

I've got a feeling that we will spend money or at least an obligation to buy the Rennes left back and possibly a striker on loan.
Someone who can play wide/attacking mid and someone who can cover FB/wb.
Couple of utility players who can provide depth and are decent enough that they'll still be contributing if we strengthen during the summer.

Much as I’d like to see new signings, I’d hope the breathing space we now have over the bottom 3 would lead to some calmer, well balanced decisions. The last think we need is more 29/30 year olds on big contracts who contribute little and we can’t get rid of them after realising they’re not very good.

Why do we do it to ourselves every window? Get hopes up for some last minute signings just to be disappointed. I'm going for the opposite approach: expect nothing, then you can't be disappointed!

Hopefully an attacker that can play up top and wide right with a bit of pace. Sounds like they're setting the scene that they tried but couldn't get the right deal, hopefully not though

Obviously we all want at least another signing, given the injury issues we've had, but Moyes has been pretty consistent about setting the scene re PSR issues in January.

Recent form has alleviated the pressure a bit, so while a foreign loan or something would be preferable, I don't see it as the end of the world now if the right deal isn't there.

It will, however, add further pressure for the summer

In an ideal world I'd say we'd have been looking at 3 incomings this month and then, based on contracts expiring etc, probably another 6 in the summer. If Alcaraz is all we can get done today, we might need 8 bodies in the summer and that's a fairly big overhaul with lots and lots of new players needing to bed in.

Trying to read between the lines on multiple sources about what we actually technically could spend.

Seems the consensus is anywhere between 20m-40m without going into the whole PSR rabbit hole and actually figuring it out - January is hard market full stop, specially when you have 2 loan spots taken by a player made of quavers and a player who (massively unfortunate this one) is out for a calendar year.

I know the whole, klarna route of pay a little now and rest over contract is still available, but cant see much else happening if am honest.

@Tofeenut can you please confirm if we have medicals booked in today for 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 6pm and 7pm (I've left 1pm and 5pm spare for lunch break and tea time) and players we are signing include

Bobby Dazzler
Garry Gobblegoals
Mickey Magik Wand
Ricky Rapid
Alain Assiste
It's at this point, macca reveals he is actually Kevin Thelwall and @Tofeenut is actually Dan Friedkin.

I wonder what user is currently trying to get the fax machine up and running?

Do think it’ll be extremely negligent if we don’t get more than Alcaraz in. Moyes has done a great job and papered over the cracks but quality aside we are just really short of numbers now - if beto goes down injured - or ndiaye/Lindstrom then we have are looking at Harrison or young as attacking cover…

Defence is fine , midfield is passable but desperately short in attacking areas.

Big Al, dynamic as ever.
I’ve actually got a lot more respect for Al saying he doesn’t know than any of the knitting circle of self perpetuating grifters who pretend they do through spurious gossip and then actually charge people money for the privilege. The very same people who had not a single clue about Alcaraz or even our week long talks with Rohl. White collar morality dealers preying on the entitled, nappy-wearing masses.
