2024/25 David Moyes

The Moyes we have now is not the Moyes who left. This is his last chance saloon. He's not a promising young manager looking for a step up. He wants to win something with the club, stay for 3 or 4 years, make us into a top half team again, and then move upstairs I would imagine.

Yep the brief is to do the same as he did at West Ham.

Keep them up, win a trophy and get them regularly in Europe.

Some West Ham fans were sniffy about him but he won their first pot since the early 80s and they had regular top 10 finishes and three successive season playing in europe so I think it's going to be a long time before they have that level of consistency again.

This is also the only club he'd have come out of semi retirement to do this type of job so need to respect him for that as seems Wolves and Leicester reached out to him earlier in the season and he wasn't interested.

It really shows how little some of these so called pundits really know/understand regarding coaching, and I’d question how much of Everton under Dyche they actually watched and if they were just forming their opinions based on what others have said.

It was as clear as the nose on your face that there was zero attacking coaching as there was nothing in the way of build up this season under Dyche. Moyes has changed some basics: build a shape which creates space for our forward players and play to their strengths to create chances. Did these people genuinely think Moyes was incapable of doing that?

I think the shearer bit was great. He must think he wasn’t a massive risk being appointed the Newcastle boss that ultimately saw them relegated.

Let's give the Mk2 version a chance, see how he and Thelwell go in the window
He's getting his chance. I've already said he has improved the way we've been playing and is a better manager than Dyche if we want to push a bit further up the table.

But that's football.

Im not talking about football.

If he's here for 2 more seasons Ilm not going to start hoping we do badly; always want his to win regardless of who the manager is.

But I'll hope he's moved out this summer because his presence is nauseating due to his snide history with the club, its supporters and its No.1 legend.

Besides, there's plenty of better managers out there than Moyes if we really do want to kick on.

Like I said, get over it

You dont 'Kick On' from 15th to 13th, you move up, escape the relegation scramble
You do 'Kick On'...or try too...from 7th, or 6th
Hopefully Moyes will do his 7th-ish Trophy thing

Then and only then you replace him...a d hope you replace him wisely.

Anyway mert this wumming is up there with your best Martinez work, you know you're talking wham and I know it, but sometimes out of sheer devilment I have a go back at you.

O'Brien isn't bombing on the same as Mykolenko, but what he's doing is securing the space behind Lindstrom and allowing him to have more of an influence further up the pitch.
He is. But O'Brien himself isn't getting up the pitch and he wont have been told to by Moyes.

I think any notion that Moyes is replicating the golden era of Baines/Coleman bombing on each flank needs rebuffing. I know that's not what you're saying, but we dont have the personnel for it...just as we didn't under Dyche.

If Moyes stays beyond the summer he'll make both FB positions priorities.

So glad we ended up with Moyes and not Potter
Got a mate who’s a hammers fan. When we were linked with Potter, I said to him I hope we get Moyes and you get Potter, as we need stability at present and someone who knows the club.
Naturally Moyes has had an excellent start although I still have my doubts if he is the man to lead us into a new era. I guess we need consolidation not more change, so I can see why Moyes was offered a 2.5 year contract.
In time I’d like him to become our DOF, as one thing we know about Moyes, he’s excellent at spotting talent with the players he brought to various clubs.
