Josh Brownhill won't be inflating the wage bill, we'd pay him about half of what we're paying most of our out of contract players.
He would still be absorbing a portion of our available finance.
Being a ‘tidy’ player with a good ‘work ethic’ is usually indicative of a second rate player who neither improves nor advances the team.
We really need to stop filling the squad with such limited players or we will never progress.

'could consider' - I guess we could...and then consider somebody else.
The issue we have is that we can pay someone like Brownhill £40k a week to come in and fill a squad position, or we can try and renew the contract of somebody on £80k a week and tell them to take a 50% wage cut. They'll either tell us where to get off and leave, or stay and be demotivated. It's a really difficult situation for the DOF and manager in the summer.

Given our tiny squad for next season it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he came in. Tidy enough player and a decent work ethic.

The last thing we should do is fill the squad with journeymen.

We can now afford to be thoughtful in the market after the recent results and not buy dross just to increase the numbers.

We need to fill the squad with someone, we've only got about 8 players left at the end of the season.

He's free we wouldn't be buying him. We can afford to buy 3 or 4 good players, and then we either need to get free transfers in or try and renegotiate lower wages with existing players.
