2024/25 Idrissa Gueye

I love him. A short term deal works. If his body hasn't broken down yet, I can see a couple more decent years in him. Just hope he doesn't block the development of others. That is my only complaint.
We have a mad player contract situation coming up so tying him down will take the edge off that. Deserves a year but wouldn't offer more than that currently.

His IQ in defensive midfield will be key in my opinion anyway to bring young players along. For as much as he tackles his lack of yellow cards is really something. And he's one of the best players I've ever seen on a yellow card - he still goes into challenges he just makes sure.

Aging like a fine wine too. Sure we wish he was better on the ball, but he's been pretty decent in that regard the last couple seasons, for a side that's allergic to doing anything with the ball

He's a defensive midfielder. His job is to stop the opposition, win tackles, break up play, etc - and he does it extremly well. I can't see the point moaning about his inability to pick out a 30 yard pass. May as well bitch about Pickford's lack of goals. Keep playing him until his legs go - and, as he never been a speed merchant, that may be some time yet!
