It matters because those runs don’t happen in the Prem. watch half the goals he scored and defenders are moving at half speed or leaving massive gaps. Technique can be sloppy because there’s so much time and space to play in. He’s not a striker that suits the league, it’s that simple.
Hilarious that you think defending in the Italian league is a lot worse than the Premiership! Of course he still makes the runs, doesn't matter what league he's playing in, he just needs someone who can actually make that pass. In the current squad we've got 2 players who can do that.

Our only attacking option for a match on Saturday which is essentially a match we just can't afford to lose. And yes, we had 4 weeks to strengthen the squad knowing fairwell that this was always a possibility with this ridiculous squad size. We only a ndiaye injury away to have to use keane as an attacking option.

That's just down to coaching and game time.
Not really. He’s nearly 27 and has been playing top level football for years, his understanding of what’s expected is way below what you’d expect. Coaching can help obviously but I’ve never seen someone at his stage be so lacking in basic understanding of what to do when.

I think you’re desperate for him to be good. The amount of time and space he has on half of these is ridiculous:

It’s not a coaching thing at all, he’s just clearly not suited to this level of football.

He was flipping burgers 7 years ago playing in the amateur leagues in Portugal, it’s a meteoric rise to be fair. But his understanding of the pace of the game is nowhere near this level. Even if he’s a big lad and he’s quick his mind won’t ever be at that level.

Love some of those highlights where it cuts out just before he takes a shot or makes a pass 😆

All we can ask is that he makes a nuisance of himself, occupies the Leicester centre halves and he does seem to get himself into decent scoring positions

I'm not sure that's true. He only started playing regularly in top flight of Portugal in the 20-21 season. Then he played two seasons in Italy before moving to Everton. He's only had a handful of starts for us and no consistent run of games. In short he's not started that many games at a top level given his age.

C'mon you can coach people to press and certainly improve them. He's definitely raw and that's mainly down to his coming to this level late in his career. He's just not played a lot of football at this level. Is he the answer to Everton's striking situation in the long run? I don't think so. Is he as bad as people are making out, I don't think he is. He'll score goals if you give him the right service, probably somewhere around 1 in 3.

  I'm not desperate for anything mate. i just don't think he's as bad as you are making out. Given DCL woeful finishing in the last two seasons I think he'd score more given the right service. Can he do some of the other things that DCL can do, no he's not great at some of those things but he could definitely improve with some coaching. We definitely need better than Beto and DCL but reality is we are very unlikely to get it between now and the end of this season.

That doesn’t argue with what I’m saying though? 5 years of top flight football is quite a lot, he played in proper junior teams too it’s not like he only discovered football at 23. Like I said, you can coach him to do things better but it will only go so far considering his age and experience, there has to be a basic level there to work with which I’m just not sure is the case for him.
