The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

I noticed this with regards to the Ipswich fans, and agree that you have a point with regards to pressure on players being different for different clubs.

Not entirely sure though that their reaction to a meaningless consolation was particularly positive. Think it exposed a total loser mentality. The lad who scored celebrated like it was a late equaliser, and the wacky funsters in the away end were either genuinely overjoyed, or thought celebrating gleefully would be a “laugh”. Half of them are probably kopites on the sly who had their absolute perfect day out.

Putting aside the fact that losing 4-1 at Anfield has a specific difference for us, I would be absolutely fuming if we reacted like that to a late consolation in a battering against Chelsea for example. It’s something that separates us from these type of clubs and while that might create a pressure, that is probably a good thing.
They where in League one 2 years ago so for them being in the PL a massive achievement

We are in a much better position but yesterday's injuries cast a shadow.

We are not out of it. We have to capitalise on yesterday by beating Leicester and this has been exactly the type of game we trip up in.

There is a lot riding on that game. There will probably be a period of games later where we don't pick up many points and it only takes a couple of results to turn. It's about a level of comfort as much as some absolute differential.

Not sure what level of gap would let me relax - maybe 10 points, even if it seems excessive. We have to put nails in the relegation coffin and keep banging them in.

I'd now label my feelings as 'cautiously optimistic'.

For us to go down now we'd need a collapse ourselves and a resurgence from at least two teams below us who currently look awful. Not saying it couldn't happen, but the odds on it are increasing nicely.

I’d love to see Manu and Spurs dragged in to it. No chance but the aim now is to get as high as we can. If we beat Leicester and Wolves we’re surely safe. Isn’t it 2 million per position in the league? If you’re an optimist 11th would be the highest we can now achieve. An extra £10 million which would be helpful with PSR.
11th is the highest we can achieve? Why the negativity, win our remaining games gives us 71 points.. That's Europe... all together "we're all going on a European tour".

I think we buy clever in the window we can get top 10.
