If you have no money whatsoever then a ‘buy now pay later deal’ gets a body in the building when your main striker hasn’t been consistently fit for 2 years. It was a gamble if he would be any good in the Premier league but not getting anybody in whatsoever and relying on DCL being fit all season would have been the bigger gamble.
That’s not how it works. Thelwell bought Maupey (we know Moshiri, Kenwright and Lampard wanted premier league “experience”), Dyche bought Ndiaye (even though he literally had no idea he had played as a number 10 before)I mean he got Ndiaye here so...
Can you please tell the group what it is YOU think Director of football Kevin Thelwell is solely responsible for? You seem to be peddling the same myths over and over again even though others have pointed out they are incorrect, just like you did in the Jesper Lindstrom thread after the Spurs game.….ha, ha, exactly what he did in his first season when DCL was truly crocked. We started with Gordon up front and it was 6 or 7 games before he brought in a back-up; Maupay. If I remember rightly, he also sent Simms on loan but had to bring him back in January because Maupay was useless. I think we also finished that season with Gordon as central striker.
I think there is a valid case to be made for Simms and Cannon being no worst than Beto and Chermiti.

Yes but you have a problem with your hearing don’t you? As borne out in the Lindstrom thread where you misheard Moyes and attributed what he said about the whole team to just applying to Jesper because of confirmation bias.….i’ve heard he makes a good cup of tea.
People are very quick to drop to their knees and declare awful managers as miracle workers for exactly the same “success”If we stay up this year hasn't his job been successful? it's only really a failure if we drop.![]()
I just dont really have a strong opinion on Kev either way, so far Moyes is using the players that Thelwell bought in a much more effective way, so could the problem not have just been Dyche being too negative.People are very quick to drop to their knees and declare awful managers as miracle workers for exactly the same “success”

Two teams have been deducted points for ffp breachesIt's incredible just how strongly people can feel about someone that we actually don't really see the direct impact of what they do.
You can only really judge him on signings. I think he's made some good signings, some bad ones and some average ones. He hasn't really pulled any rabbits out of the hat, but then the club has been on life support since Dyche came in.
He probably does go in the summer, but I feel it'll be more out of the owners wanting their own people in rather than them considering Thelwell a failure.
The reason he's paid £1m a year is because he's supposed to know that somebody like Beto isn't good enough to contribute, and that a £25m albatross around the club's neck is worse than signing nobody. If you have no money whatsoever then a ‘buy now pay later deal’ gets a body in the building when your main striker hasn’t been consistently fit for 2 years.
