2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

We went from 2 seasons in which we survived final home match at Goodison.

We then didn't spend a bean, and had the chaos and circus that was giving us 10 point deductions, with constant uncertainty around more.

Look at the impact it's likely had at Man City.

Nobody would have given us a prayer when he come in if we were told we wouldn't spend that summer, and get a point deduction.

I'd agree with you, if we weren't terrible for years before he arrived too. Example - Everton 87th out of 92 teams for points per game during the 2022 calendar year.

We were in relegation fights with Richarlison, Iwobi, Gordon - players better than what Dyche had. I shared my view on here under Lampard we'd be fighting relegation, and again under Dyche so it's hard then to say it's all on Dyche.

We'll be fighting relegation next season too, unless we recruit well.

If someone told me now, we'll have to make a profit in the summer, and get a point deduction next season I'd be saying Moyes won't be able to keep us up.
We’ve been terrible for 4 years but for me it’s not the squad it’s the choice of managers these lunatics of our club employed! Benitez Lampard Dyche, imo I’m not sure you could hand pick 3 worse managers consecutively, I believe this is why we think this squad is worse than it actually is.

I’m deffo not saying we don’t need new players but this squads ability should be operating at the top of the bottom half of the table. The right manager will achieve this or just a competent one like Moyes will get us around there and that’s without a single addition to the squad.

Some of their reserves. But let’s be realistic. On paper, whose squad would you want going into that game? Theirs or ours?

We have a better GK and CBs.

People making out that they were full of academy players to suit a narrative.

Dragusin signed as a starting CB just a year ago. Davies was their starting CB 2 seasons ago and played half their games last season. Porro is a starting defender for them. Spence likely walks into our team (especially if you base that on how people on here view Myko).

Gray signed for like £30m and is incredibly highly rated. Already mentioned bergvall. Neither signed for their academy. They signed for the first team squad.

Sarr is a starting CM for them and walks into our team.

That front 3. Maddison, Kulusevski and Son. Don’t need to say anything else.

As I said, yes they have injuries, but it’s not a team full of academy players.
There starting 11 cost roughy 270mil and brought a 60mil forward on
Our was about 100mil

Spurs have more injuries than any other team in the league. Vicario, Solanke, Udogie, Johnson, Werner, Bentancur, Romero, van de Ven, Bissouma, Forster, Odobert.

But yes - even so, the team 1 place above us in the league, with half their team out - still fielded a team with the majority of players who'd start for us. Who cost more than ours. You're correct.

Most teams we play will have half a squad who would start for us.

It's why for years I've been saying we need to recruit - because ultimately, most teams are better than us and have significantly more depth.

Maybe what you're saying then is a factor behind why we've been fighting relegation for years.

If I was to go back through your post history Dave, are you sure you're without sin here? Fairly sure you were calling Koeman a fraud sooner than anyone else
Koeman who inherited a very good team that had slipped to midtable and who then had £250M to spend and got us into the relegation zone with it and arrogantly dismissed everyone? That Koeman?

Yeah, that's EXACTLY the same situation isn't it?

Well, yeah

He finished 7th in his first season (we had finished 11th the previous two years) and you were calling him a fraud long before the 1st season was up.

Where I agree is that the general circumstances when Dyche came in were harder than what Moyes faces now, no ownership, sold Gordon for huge money, yet no funds for replacements, a worse squad than now.

Luckily we can look to a brighter future for financial and hopefully soon sportive reasons, and now can even get 2-3 players in we urgently needed back then and also now.

The challenge Moyes will have is to find the way manage the upheaval with a renewed squad.

It's why Moyes, quite rightly, unprompted and across multiple interviews - talked Dyche achievements up. How Moyes also said it's not about managers at Everton over the years why they've struggled. And how, even after Villa, he said it's not about himself, it's about the players.

Ultimately, this team is relegation fodder.

Some managers will eek more out of it. Some less. You'll get new manager uplift, like so;

⚽ Everton's Premier League season
Sean Dyche - 2 wins from 3 games - Arsenal W, Liverpool L, Leeds W
Frank Lampard - 3 wins from 20 games

👏 What a job Sean Dyche is doing...
Despite taking charge of just seven games, Sean Dyche has already won as many Premier League games with Everton this season (3) as Frank Lampard did (3/20)
Everton have kept 3 clean sheets in 7 games since Dyche appointed. Prior to that, Everton kept 4 clean sheets in 20 games August-January.

... but when the dust settles, this team is poor. It's not a blip, 4 years now of results show you it.

I don't think any manager coming in would get this team top 10 and if you're not top 10, a team in successive relegation scraps is always looking over their shoulder.

The guy who got us into Europe in his first season after 2 x 11th placed finishes.

Yes that Koeman.

You stabbed him in the back less than 3 months after that didn’t you.

Koeman was awful lads
